You know people study and search scripture and that is good we should do that, but if you do it as a religious duty or perhaps thinking this makes you closer to God you may be wrong. One scripture says knowledge puffeth up (makes prideful),but Love edifies (builds up). Another scripture says a righteous man studies that he may answer. This is all good. 2 Tim.2:15 Says study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. What is TRUTH? Thy Word is TRUTH. We can read and study and learn all about the Lord. We learn how he carried himself and who he hung around with and what his mission was and so on,but do we know him personally? Can you tell me from your own personal experience what the Lord is really like and what he's done for you on a personal level.

John 5:39 KJV
[39] Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

I am by no means trying to lift myself in anyway. What I am is what he made me. I believe their are thousands or millions perhaps of christians who just do their religious duty like going to church on Sunday then going home and maybe they might open their Bibles a time or two during the week before going back to church next Sunday to do their religious duty again all the while thinking they are doing right as if they had done enough where they are ok with God now and that will hold them until next weeks service. That's religion. Relationship is personal and private and intimate. You read the Book, but do you know the Author of the Book? We go to church and put on our best smiles and wear our best clothes as if we are the perfect christians with no problems at all,but everything is so wonderful! Is it? What's behind that mask? Do you leave the building, get in the car and start fighting again where you left off before you got into the church building? That's religion. Relationship is much more than that weekly ritual and routine. Do you ever come before the Lord just to be with Him? Just to spend time with Him? And when you come is it always with your list of requests or do you just come because you love and appreciate all he's done for you? Do you seek his heart or his hand? This must be done willfully and not forcefully or else even this can become religious duty. Come as you are willfully knowing that your Heavenly Father loves you so much that he sent JESUS to die for you. Come knowing that God is not condemning or judging you,but longs for your affection. God is always after the heart. This is the place you will always find God when you search for him with your whole heart He will be found. He is waiting to spend quiet personal time with his child. Change your schedule if you must, but make time for God. He is right where you last visited him waiting for you beloved. Draw nigh unto me and I will draw nigh(near) unto you. Amen
