“But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, ( Isaiah 7:14) saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:20-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: and was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, ( Hosea 11:1) saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, ( Jeremiah 31:15) saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, Lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, And would not be comforted, because they are not.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, ( Isaiah 9:1-2)saying, The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, By the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; The people which sat in darkness Saw great light; And to them which sat in the region and shadow of death Light is sprung up.

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4:12-17‬ ‭

“When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, ( Isaiah 53:4-6)saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:16-

“But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; and charged them that they should not make him known: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, ( Isaiah 42:1-4) saying, Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; My beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, And he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.”
Matthew‬ ‭12:15-18‬ ‭

“All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,(psalm 78) saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.”
Matthew‬ ‭13:34-35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, ( zechariah 9:9) saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, Meek, and sitting upon an ass, And a colt the foal of an ass.”
Matthew‬ ‭21:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.

Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:55-56‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by zechariah(11:12-13) the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; and gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:9-10‬

“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:44‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The ot law prophets and psalms are filled with many many more prophecies regarding Jesus north life and ministry his suffering and death for sin his resurrection and ascention to the right hand of God in heaven that was fulfilled in the gospel.

after jesus died rose and ascended up to heavens throne and sent the Holy Ghost to his disciples as he promised in John 14-17

to jews

“But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, ( even though Jesus had died and rose they still had to repent and be converted to be forgiven ) when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

and he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

….Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:18-21, 24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

To gentiles the same word is preached that was preached to Jews beforehand

The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) that word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judæa, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:36-41‬ ‭

“And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:42-43‬ ‭

“Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: and by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭13:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

These are just some scriptures to consider for study purposes. I hope you can see the consistant theme and understand the value in studying more of the old testaments prophets who were promising new things to come later. It really explains a lot of the New Testament to hear some of what the Old Testament foretold about it and it’s purposes and points

Ot prophecy really Clarifies so much of the Bible and some of the mysterious seeming things and reveals how consistent and clear God has always been, God bless your studies of His word.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Old Testament and New Testament fit so nicely together, brother, and prophecy is a large part of God's Word. We are assured that God keeps His Word and the promises of redemption we have in Jesus Christ. A good portion of the New Testament actually has its roots in the Old Testament, and Jesus and the apostles shed new light on Old Testament teachings through the Gospel and Jesus' mission "...to save that which was lost" (Luke 19: 10) and fulfill the Father's will.

Shortly before Jesus' descent from the mount of Olives into Jerusalem on a colt, the disciples "...thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately" (v. 11) even though Jesus made it clear to them that He would have to "...suffer many things and be rejected" (Luke 17: 25). Jesus also told them prior to entering Jerusalem that He would be delivered to the Gentiles to be "...mocked and insulted and spit upon" along with being scourged and killed, rising again on the third day (Luke 18: 32-33). We need God to open our eyes to prophecy, that which was fulfilled in the OT and the new prophecies that pour forth out of the NT, too.

Yes the New Testament is revealed in the Old Testament and the old is revealed in the new . When someone realizes how the two covenants work together to interpret the other a lot of the guessing and personal interpretation is removed and we see the Bible through the Bible

curses and blessing don’t expire they are fulfilled the curse upon Israel for breaking thier covenant will lead here

“The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

….The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭24:5-6, 20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In other words it will lead here

“but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:7, 10-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

My point is the new creation has never been cursed but the current one will be devoured by the curse

Jehoiachin was one of the last kings of the nation of Judah. He did evil in the sight of the LORD. 2 Kings 24:6-16

Jehoiachin was a bad king and God curses him because of it. See Jeremiah 22:24-30 and note that "Coniah" is a variant of Jehoiachin's name. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon captured Jehoiachin and took him to Babylon. He takes all of the treasures of the house of the LORD.

The curse of Jehoiachin is found in Jeremiah 22:30. It says not one of Jehoiachin's descendants will rule again in Judah.

__________

God had made a covenant with King David. We call it The Davidic Covenant.

"Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever."

2 Samuel 7:16

God's lovingkindness will not depart from David. Though David's descendants would be disciplined, God will not abandon them. (2 Samuel 7:14-15)

The Davidic Covenant is summarized in 1 Chronicles 17:11-14

"... his throne shall be established forever."

God promised King David and all of His people that the Messiah would come through David's descendants and the tribe of Judah. God promised to establish a house, a kingdom and a throne that will last forever - all from the direct legal lineage of King David.

The Messiah was to come from not only David's lineage (which could have made the gene pool very large), but had to be a legal successor in order to inherit the throne of King David. In other words, the Messiah had to be a legal heir to the kings of Judah. Problem was that cursed Jehoiachin was in that legal lineage. So how could God give a legal King that is not under the curse?

Even while speaking to Israel via OT prophets and to Christians via the NT Gospel and epistles,
God continues to be revealed universally via His creation (Rom.1:20, Psa.8:3-4).

Great point, it's all about Jesus. Like Paul said, "For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified" (I Cor. 2:2). God has "...spoken to us by His son," and Jesus continues to speak to us today. And, as we remember on this Good Friday, He speaks to us not only by His Word. He speaks to us by His actions, suffering and dying for us on the cross.

Amen. We are without excuse. Even before conversion as a hard-hearted teenager, I looked at the creation around me and the wonders in the sky above and knew we had a Creator. I love those verses you referenced from Psalm 8:

Psalm 8:3-4

New King James Version

3 When I consider Your
heavens, the work of Your
fingers,
The moon and the stars, which
You have ordained,
4 What is man that You are
mindful of him,
And the son of man that You
visit him?

Beautiful poetry. And the Creator of heaven and earth "...made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross" (Phil. 2: 7-8).

When I opened my Bible this morning, the first page I turned to was Job chapter 16, and I had these verses underlined with "Jesus" written in the margin:

Job 16:9-11

New King James Version

9 He tears me in His wrath, and
hates me;
He gnashes at me with His
teeth;
My adversary sharpens His
gaze on me.
10 They gape at me with their
mouth,
They strike me reproachfully
on the cheek,
They gather together against
me.
11 God has delivered me to the
ungodly,
And turned me over to the
hands of the wicked.

I have a reference Bible I use when I'm writing, and there no references to the Gospels and Jesus' suffering that we focus on especially during this day, nor is there a blank star signifying an unfulfilled prophecy in these verses from Job.

However, this sure seems to apply to Jesus' last day where "My adversary sharpens His gaze on me," which sounds like Satan and those under his spell who tormented and lashed out at Jesus during his custody and "kangaroo court" trial.

John 18:19-23

New King James Version

19 The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.

20 Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing. 21 Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said.”

22 And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Do You answer the high priest like that?”

23 Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?”
