I used to take my faith so lightly too... Then it just hit me like "BAM" and I "woke up"

you can gOoGle it but

pascal was a christian mathematician

he worked a lot with statistics and probability

he said in any wager you have to do a calculation comparing what it is gonna cost with what you might win

eg

lets say you have a 6 sided dice

you bet $1

if you throw a 6 you win $2

calculation $1 : 1/6*$2 -> $1 : $0.33 -> BAD BET


now

if you throw a 6 you win $10

calculation $1 : 1/6*$10 -> $1 : $1.67 -> GOOD BET

now

live for God(and you are wrong about God) -> you die and lose nothing - NO LOSS

OR

live for Self(and you are wrong about God) -> you die and lose nothing - NO LOSS

vs

live for God(and you are RIGHT about God) -> you die and go to heaven

OR

live for Self(and you are RIGHT about God) -> you die and go to hell

SO WHY TAKE THE RISK WHEN YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO WIN AND EVERYTHING TO LOSE

pet peeve: when you loan your brother your camera for 16 days while he hikes in the mountains, and he comes back with beach sand in the lens
 
Pet peeve: Being invited for dinner. They pay. Top restaurant. And then they serve the local speciality: Squids (with head, tentacles, and all. Thoso mini-species).

Can't say no, cuz I have to be polite.

That was my nightmare...
 
eeewww... I guess I could eat it if it didn't look like one... but a whole squid.. EEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
 
Yeah, it was gross. I had to do my best not to vomit. Yuckk...........
Problem was that the man offering us dinner was the export manager of a leading factory in Italy. My dad gave me already his 'you'd-better-eat-that' look, so I had no choice...
 
Catfish is good, but I dunno about squid. Was it still alive??
