My first pet ever was a cat. I was about maybe 10 years old at the time. We called her Kitty. She was a fierce huntress who was very loyal to us, even in her last days. She lived to be around 15 human years. I still miss her #RIPKitty
Next we got a pittbull. Didn’t last cause he was quite ferocious.
After him we got a black Labrador. We named him Bobby. Such a beautiful bubbly family dog. Very loyal. He ran away but the pound found him. Mum & Dad couldn’t afford to pay him out at the time, so we had to let him go. It was such a sad time for us. Especially because my sisters & I were very young & were attached to him. I Cried every night.
Fast forward a few years, we got a pup. Half Lab half Sharpei. Very friendly & loves people. Energetic & protective (his Sharpei characteristics). Additionally, we adopted another dog whose a year older, he came from a broken home. Neglected. Had anti social issues. We welcomed him & gave him love & affection, something that he never experienced.
Now, out of our two dogs, he’s very affectionate & is always happy when we come home.
Animals, you gotta love ‘em.

my kinda topic. As a kid we had almost everything. From dogs, cats, and horses, to rabbits, ferrets and even a racoon. Birds, fish ECT....I now have two dogs. Both large breed. My male is very protective and loving with me. My Female the largest (super sized) is my big girl. She has a strong bond with me, and yes is protective. When she was a little pup, she had big dog syndrome.
She would be in the yard with me, if someone came walking down the side walk she would run to the edge of the side walk and bark her little head off. ( keep in mind for a little pup she had a deep bark) 
. My male loves to play. He will play fetch and tug-a-war. He will put the ball in your hand. My Female she just takes off with it. She don't get the concept. Both bring me great joy. Both are house dogs and very well behaved. I train my animals. They even obey commands like scoot over 
. They do have a large yard to play in. And I built them a dog house in case weather change and I left them in the yard. They truly love me and I am their alpha. They enjoy being with me. Merc will actually pout if I tell her to get down. They both were rescue dogs. Merc a pup and Teddy 1.5 yrs when I adopted him. I needed them and they needed me. See I had not had a dog since I had to put my German Shepherd down from cancer. 2012. I was to close to her. A friend suggested I get a dog and I came across Teddy at the rescue shelter. No one wanted the poor guy. I can honestly say, I have no clue why. Since I adopted him, I have had no trouble. He is well mannered house broke, only destroys his toys, he does try pulling on the leash, but he is half husky and when he is told the rules he chills. Even sits at intersections before crossing.
Merc, I seen her pic and drove an hour one way to get her. She's my girl. What can I say.
I have a cat.She is three .Got her since she was 2 months old.She is all white except her tail and left eye that are grey .Very independent but loving at the same time .Loves adventure and boxes She always comes to the front door to say hello when we are back home .

got my first pet when i was 14...a small dog i named after my crush I called him Byron it died

Hunny is less than 1ft high, the family was on vacation 4 days, hunny leaped 4ft into my grand daughters arrms when the door was opened
When I was sick she even brought me a part tankard of poweraid and some bones & groweled at the cats when they got near me!

I currently have a dog, an australian shepherd. I would rather have a cat, but cats don't live long around here because of the lead-foot drivers in this area.
Australian shepherds are disturbingly smart. My dog was roaming and getting into stuff the neighbors didn't want him to get into, so I tried to train him to stay at home. And I THOUGHT it was working... until I started getting complaints again. Turns out my dog has figured out when I leave for w*rk in the morning I don't come back until late afternoon, so he has been doing his roaming in the middle of the day when I'm gone.
Party's over for him though. As soon as I found out about that I put a stop to it... partly because I don't want him causing trouble with the neighbors, but mostly because it hurts my pride to find my dog is smarter than I am.

Yes mine did that for a while too. He was also smart enough to figure out that once he was out of arm's reach, "no" didn't matter very much. I finally got a remote control shock collar which fixed the problem and put some remote control muscle behind my "no."I had an auzzie once, he was brilliant but not enough to figure out cars are not animals. He learned fast... I never had to change the batteries in the collar one time. Now he pays attention to "no."
Isnt that breed cattle dogs? Maybe they think the car is a big steer? Lol
It's possible. The dog always seemed to have a predilection for big diesel trucks, and there was usually a big guy "steer"ing the truck...

We needed a room added to our home but I found a servicable motor home for 1k USD and bought it instead. The Auzzie used to unplug it when it snowed. He wanted to come inside and the plug had a light in it and the dog would pretend to be wrestling a snake [I guess] till I got close then run for the door, ahead of me. Never got used to guarding chickens though!
