What are your thoughts on this? I myself believe that 14-15 years of age is way too young to be able to pick up this birth control and use without parents consent.
Where do you think this will lead to next?
 
I agree with you jinx, that's very young. In my opinion things like plan b make it seem like sex is no big deal, why not when they can take a pill and have no consequences. They push the idea of sex on kids. Here have some condoms, abstinence? they're going to do it anyway. There are a lot of kids that won't and we need to make that seem like the norm.
 
I have no problem with 14- 15 year olds having access to this. But I don't like that we're selling it off the shelves now. I still think it should be available, but that you should have to ask the pharmacist for it, so that the pharmacist at least can tell them how it should be used correctly.
 
Well since abstinence as sexual education doesnt work this makes sense. Id rather people have this available than trying other methods or bringing in more kids to this world that have no one to raise them.
 
most people are missing the real effect of making the morning after pill available to children...namely it makes it easier for child rapists to cover up their crimes...

your right, we already have a major problem with pedophiles, family members doing unspeakable horrors to young girls, and this just makes it easier for them to cover up their sins.
 
I myself am a born againg christian i am 20 years old i lost my virginity at 16 and i have a 3 year old both of which happend before i was saved but i think the morning after pill should be given to children because theye dont always understand sex and the consequences of it and some might not be having sex concesually i think it is important that it avalible because these children may not know God yet and think it os ok to have sex we need to concentrate on introuducing people to GOD teaching them self worth and sex is something theye should keep for their husband on their weding sex is a great gift that god gave us and we should be thankfull for it and apprieciate it

ps. im dyslexic so sorry if speeling is bad

ok so you think it should be given, but do you believe that it should be an over the counter drug?
 
I think at least it should be given with parental permission until 18 years old. 15 years old without parental consent is ridiculously too young.
 
too many side effects and responsibilities for a 15 year old to comprehend.

For some reason I dont think this is going to be the number one result from this becoming an OTC

As far as I am aware this is how it works. At least in my state, you have to speak to the pharmacist. It also costs like 50 bucks so most people use it only in emergencies. It takes quite a toll on some people's bodies, too, so many avoid if at all possible.

well you are wrong...for one thing the morning after pill is out of the price range for most teenagers...the only way most could afford it is if an adult was paying... and if an adult is paying why couldn't the adult also go to the drug store and pick it up? unless something -illegal- is going on...

all this will do is enable pedophiles...
 
Another thing that is being missed, is that this is a form of an abortion pill. What I mean is that if an egg is fertilized, then the pill prevents it from being able to implant in the womb.

Nah I disagree with this. You'd be surprised how easily teenagers can get money. Most work, and those who don't still find means of making money. It's roughly, if you buy the generic kind, 45 dollars. Not to mention this is probably something they'd only get if the condom broke or they had unprotected sex then later realized the risk, not something they're going to get every time they have sex. I would guess most teenagers, especially if there are two working together, can get that much money relatively quickly.
