I am a divorced father of 3. I have never remarried and my last child leaves for college in a month. I am a very active member in my local church, teach classes and am a mentor to college kids. I feel like I must be strong and constantly upbeat but I am hurting on the inside. My children are my life and I will soon be alone. I feel looming depression and loneliness. Please pray for me

You still have your children brother so give thanks for the fact that they are alive and healthy....no need to be depressed. Oh, and yes I'm praying for you :)

I am pretty sure it is hard for your child too to leave you alone...the first few days/months will be the hardest but you will get used to it eventually... The same feeling when I l moved out from my parents house to find a job in the city ...it was really really hard especially when my parents wrote to me asking me to go back home... because they missed me... but glad that I didn't go back or else... I'll never know how to be independent...just remember this move will going to help you both :) Be strong :)

I'll pray for you bro. :) May God give you comfort and peace :)

God bless you.

Your family will just need you in a different capacity as they move into their next life phase, that's all. For as long as you're still here, God has a purpose, plan and will for your life. -You need to embrace this and not be brought down by the enemy's lies that your worth lies solely in whether or not your children remain children at home and that outside of this there's no hope for you. Don't believe the enemy's lies, embrace this change with your family and ask God to show you what's next for you so you can welcome it with open arms!

Lord, please allow him to hear and follow this prayer, in Jesus Name, Amen!

i feel for you. that's parenting, you pour your life into raising the kids, and if you do the job right, they leave. that's the goal of parenting that isn't in the manual.

the relationship changes in ways, but you'll always be their dad, and they'll always be your 'little ones', even though they're not little anymore. it's a change, not an end, if that helps. it didn't help me much at first; i don't deal well with change. :o

i try to remember truth isn't dictated by my feelings. some days i do well. others, not so much. i hope i'm not making you feel worse! this is just my experience walking through 'kids leaving'. yes, you will miss them, and yes, you will feel lonely at first, but you'll also rejoice with them at each step they take forward because they're happy about it, and you love them.

i have prayed for you. may the Lord help you, comfort you and guide you (and your children!).

It was a sad time for me when I lost my dad in 1989. Having the Lord as a friend I could constantly talk to, and a supportive church, I was able to carry on. My dad is now a pleasant memory. Your kids are still alive and well, and hopefully you will remain in contact with them.

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. —Isaiah 40:31

Prayers for you

Heavenly father, please lift this servant up, restore him and provide him with your strength, love, mercy! Just know I will continue to pray for you! You have, what sounds like a thriving social circle and one of the greatest resources, go to your pastor and allow someone to help you! Life isn’t one big party (as you already know), allow people into your life, and I’d bet there are people willing to help if you’d only let your guard down and let them in. Everyone, I mean everyone has a story that knocked them on their butt, it’s what you do now, this is your moment…trust God, give him all of your worries, sorrow, and loneliness…He will come through!! You are so ahead of the game, you recognize your issues, you’re actively working to resolve them and you’re willing to take the leap toward help. If you think about it, keep me posted….this is the forge God is using to refine you!
