A new day has dawned
The past is gone
With the sunrise
I open my eyes
The lessons learned
Those I will not spurn
I turn anew
For my Lord to renew
In His arms I still my heart
In His spirit my joy starts
For only in Him can I trust
Only in Him is my conduct
His words bring life
With His spirit I can take flight
As the hurts of this world lessen
As the pain ebbs
I look to my love, my God, to overcome
Now as His child that I am
He sets me down on this land
He opens my heart and takes my hand
And tells me to stand
To be His witness
To make a mark
That others may see
That others may believe
In this dark unfamiliar part.
