Your poll is unscientific, lacking turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. Humbug.
 
Of course we must! What would the poor hens and cows do if nobody is eating them? :p

On a serious note, for health reasons there has to be a cap on how much a person eats. That does not mean you cannot try different dishes or gorge on a quarter-pound steak with mashed potatoes or go on a gastronomic tour. :)

So then, whenever there is to be a church pot luck (Texas "spread"), before the common folk eat, the deacons will privately chow down in advance. then during the Feast, the deacons will go around with thick rulers to thump the hands of persons who are doing gluttony! They will drag them out of their chairs & to the bathroom where they will be forced to drink a pint of castor oil.
