"will God understand...?"

"In order to answer this question, we first need to distinguish between punishment and discipline. For believers in Jesus, all our sin—past, present, and future—has already been punished on the cross. As Christians, we will never be punished for sin. That was done once for all. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Because of the sacrifice of Christ, God sees only the righteousness of Christ when He looks at us. Our sin has been nailed to the cross with Jesus, and we will never be punished for it.

Read more: Does God punish us when we sin?
First of all disregard what Fishbait is saying about "Once saved always saved", it is heresy and leads a lot of people to hell.
I won't elaborate on this because this will be another lengthy discussion that does not belong here. If anybody wants to know more about this they can read the many threads about it.
This is just a warning unless someone reads it and believes it....

To the OP's question and everyone else who really wants to know how to overcome it:
Just to make this short, there is a lot on the internet to research this. Sin opens the door for demonic influences that's why it is addictive. In order to get rid of an addiction has to be delivered from it in Jesus ' name. One first of all has to repent for the sin to God, then renounce that addiction and cut it off, like destroying the legal right of the enemy to torment you with it. Then this demonic force has to be cast out. Only then the torment of it will stop. After that one needs to stay away from it and/or make life changes to avoid certain situations and also to renew their mind...
Unless you get rid of the enemy that torments you, you won't experience real freedom, even if you tried through prayer and discipline overcome it somewhat, most of the time and in an opportune time it will rear it's ugly head again and trigger things in you that pulls you right back in.

What if the image one is masturbating to is their own husband or wife?
Well if you are married than you have your spouse to have sex with, which is sanctified by God, if you exclude your spouse then I would call this selfish at best. Anyways, why would you? Not a healthy approach to begin with, which first of all originates from another problem and leads to other problems in your marriage and life.

Think of military couples. I think that would be at least one good reason.

I'm been struggling with porn I want to be set free can you pray my strength in the Lord
Pornography may be the new addiction of this new century. Researchers are finding that when people indulge in porn, they release powerful chemicals in their brain and body. Mark Kastleman, author of The Drug of the New Millennium, said, "There are a growing number of therapists and psychologists who are saying that this is as addictive as cocaine," or alcohol, or even heroin. He explained that, when people view porn, "It causes the brain to release what we call endogenous drugs or endogenous chemicals. 'Endogenous' meaning 'produced from within.' So where cocaine or alcohol seek to mimic the brain's natural chemicals, pornography releases the real deal. And so we have things like adrenaline, epinephrine, ACTH."

Doesn't matter, still wrong! Then you wait until you are back together... - there is no good reason!

We have commands to love one another as Christ has loved us. Don't look at it like "is it a sin or not?" — Understand that nothing that you could have done could have separated you from God's love, and so we ought to love one another in that respect as well. To watch porn is to watch people selling themselves far below what they were created to be, to be in situations that most of them probably don't want to be in. Pray to God for a revelation of Jesus, and who you are in Him. To make him a manifestation of His glory and love towards the world. How God feels when his daughters are selling their bodies on camera is how you should feel when watching it. It's called living for yourself. When Christ died, you died with him. That is the reality. Stop living for yourself and live for other people, that also means the women you watch and the women you think about. You should be loving them, crying for them, not pleasuring yourself to them exploiting themselves below their created value.

I personally agree with the once saved always saved idea, of Christ did not die for all sin
1 Peter 3: 18 "But Christ died fir sins once." If he only died for sins we commited in the past then we are all doomed. But if we sin on purpose and refuse to repent, then we are denying Christ. But if someone makes a mistake and is repentant then they are forgiven.

... Don't look at it like "is it a sin or not?" — Understand that nothing that you could have done could have separated you from God's love, ...
What you are saying here is totally unbiblical!

Is 59:2
But your iniquities have
separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.

Rom 6:16
Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether ofsin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?

Rom 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Cor 6:8-10
No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

Jas 1:15
Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; andsin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Jas 5:19-20
Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul[a] from death and cover a multitude of sins.
(this is talking to Christians)

How God feels when his daughters are selling their bodies on camera is how you should feel when watching it ...
How do you know that these are God's daughters? There might be a few that lost their way and turned into a lifestyle of sin that were with God before, but I would say almost all of them are the devil's daughters. If they have not accepted Jesus as their savior AND Lord they are not His, if they go into a lifestyle like that they are not saved (at least not anymore)!

John 8:43-45
Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the
truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.

Rom 9:8
That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

Without derailing this thread, again there are many threads out there that discuss that at length, so a short answer:

So in other words what you are saying is that you DON'T believe in OSAS, since if one can deny Christ with their sins and needs to be repentant in order to be forgiven (true), then if they do not, they would not be forgiven, they would be lost right there and not be saved anymore, there is nothing in between.
Christ died for all sins, so sins can be forgiven and people be saved, period. There is 1 John 1:9 that says sin can be repented of when one does sin, so that they can be forgiven at the point that they turn to Christ the first time and then afterwards.

Well I'm sort of saying that I take OSAS a different way to what most do. Guess I should've worded that better xD

I'm struggling, too. I've been fighting these two sins since the first day I got saved about three years ago, and honestly it's never got easier. I still cave in a lot of the time. This war against my flesh is feeling like a losing battle but I don't know where I'm going wrong nor how to fix it. I think I'm having a hard time committing to the Spirit, because if I was fully committed then I'd be able to fight back better? I don't know. I'd appreciate all your payers, I need them. :(

I am sorry you are fighting this addiction. It isn't easy to get free from but it can be done. I am living proof.

1. Don't give up. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

2. If you stumble, pick yourself up...repent of your sin and turn from it. Do it as many times as needed.

3. Stay close to God. Lean on Him when you feel the urge to look at porn. What helped me was reading the bible.

4. Do bible studies! Learn about how God views love, sex, relationships, marriage and lust. We must reprogram our minds not to view lust as normal.

5. Pray! Pray for yourself, for wisdom, strength, and purity.

6. Get an accountability partner. They will pray for and with you and offer support. They should help you get back on track.

7. Be diligent! You need to bring your thoughts under control. Stay away from things that turn your mind to porn or masturbation.

8. Turn your thoughts to God. When you find yourself thinking wrong, turn those thoughts to God. Start praising Him, memorize a scripture verse to repeat, just talk to God...anything that works for you to turn those thoughts around.

9. Pray! It bears repeating! :)

10. Don't give up! We are not alone in this walk. Christ is right there with you.

Please read or reread my first post #21

There is a solution, called deliverance, which first of all is removing the spiritual stronghold of this addiction. It's bringing the battle to the origin and the tormentor of that addiction. You need to take the root out otherwise every small victory is just temporary.

Masturbation and the viewing of pornography releases dopamine in your brain. This makes them very addictive. Dopamine is released when an individual uses heroin, also. This should give you an idea of how addictive the behaviour can become.
Once the masturbation/pornography viewing is over, the dopamine levels drop sharply for a few days. Your body wants to get back to baseline, so you do it again. Eventually, baseline for you ends up being much higher than it was when you began. You end up needing more pornography and masturbation. It's a vicious cycle and difficult to break. Christ can enable you to do it, though (Philippians 4:13). Once you initially break the habit and get past two or three weeks without viewing pornography or masturbating, it gets easier. The beginning is always hard, since your flesh is crying out to get that dopamine. Satan will try to discourage you, too.

Yes it is a sin because in 1 of the 10 commandments it stats: “You shall not commit adultery."
Which means that you cannot be watching porn because that is a sin all and all.
