Does anybody here like the older gospel stuff? If so, post it here! I'd love to hear it.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe is not only my favorite gospel singer/guitarist. She is also my favorite blues singer. She also helped invent a genre of music called "Rock n' Roll"-- maybe you've heard of it?

Edit: Had to put one more on...

Yeah, I do!! Really enjoy old school gospel

Would love to afford to collect some of the old gospel tunes and listen to them on a real nice sound system. A lot of them aren't available anymore though ey ...

As as for the blues, when I was 14, I received a birthday present of a cassette of all the blues music from the old Levi's adverts. I used to play it constantly, driving the house nuts apart from 1 who appreciated blues and rock 'n roll.

Haven't listened to blues now for ages though, apart from Eric Bibb. Love a song by him called I heard the angels singing.

anyways, so here's some to share:

Essie Moss - Can't keep it to myself

Running for the Lord - Twinkie Clark (lol, like her name, Twinkie)

Gloria Bailey - When the toils of life are over / In the New Jerusalem

Gloria Bailey - Will your anchor hold / We have an anchor

The Beautiful Zion Choir - I've crossed over

The Savettes - Someday

Sister Rosetta Sharpe rings a bell, you know for some reason I have childhood memories of songs like, Down by the Riverside.

Im just enjoying a video "Didn't it rain" :Dnice one !!

Thanks for sharing Sister Rosetta :)

They are so good, I first heard them from when I used to listen to some of Ben Harper's songs.
