I've never posted on here before, but I thought I'd share something here that is going on in my life. Please feel free to comment and offer any advice.

I am a 7th grade Social Studies teacher. I teach in a public school. From the beginning of the year, one of my students has been open to me about her faith, and about wanting to go on mission trips when she's older. Her faith has really impressed me, and has challenged me in my own relationship with God.

A month ago, God really put it in my heart to do something for her, something to encourage her and really let her know that God loves her. So I went to a Christian bookstore and bought her a book on how to live the Christian life as a teenage girl. I also gave her a bookmark that says "Jesus loves you", and gave her the Bible verse where Jesus commands us to enter through the narrow gate, and that only a few people find the Christian live.

Now is where it gets crazy. The next day, her mom sent me a message on facebook just thanking me for reaching out to her child. I responded by telling her that I was happy to do it, and I know that donig stuff like this one day might get me fired but that's ok, it's worth the risk. Well her mom and I have been talking ever since, and aparently the student wants us to get together.

Her mom and I met for coffee a couple of weeks ago. Her daughter, and my student, actually helped fix her up to meet me. lol To be honest, I really wasn't expecting anything but friendship, and I even said as much before we met. But we hit it off immediately. We've gone out a couple of times since, and we are going out again this weekend.

I keep thinking to myself, "All I did was buy a book" lol Is it really possible that God is using a 13 year old kid to set me up with the love of my life?? Comment away.

Aww this sounds like a book! Incredible! And yes God uses everything and everyone for His divine purposes! And to be honest, at times like this is when I praise Him the most - in small details that save and fix our lives!! His ways are indeed mysterious and wonderful! God bless you both! Actually, God bless all three of you! I hope everything works fine between you two and have a wonderful long life with your new family - why not!! :)

It's amazing to see what God does to/with us when we decide to live for Him and Him alone! We give just a bit of our selves and He pours out all of Him and all of His mercies and grace upon us!

I appreciate the comments, but I left out one little detail.. It woudn't be the three of us, it's the 5 of us. She has 2 others too. :)

What a beautiful story. If you're up for an instant family and the two of you are in prayer about it, go for it! :)

I am a single mom of three children. Any guy who is even potentially willing to glance in the direction of a single mom...(one child, or three children, does not matter)...then he has already scored points in my book!

I say that you are attracted to this woman, then continue to see one another and see how it unfolds. :)

We are going to church together on Sunday. The oldest child (the one that I teach and the little matchmaker) has told her mom that she is going to sit between the other 2 to keep them from fighting. She is afraid the other 2 kids will scare me off. lol It's kinda funny actually.

I can't believe I'm in this situation. lol Not that I am complaining, but yikes... A month ago I was single and not looking. :p
 
If you already don't mind being in an instant family I say go for it. You sound like a strong Christian man who is firm in his faith and is willing to be a leader. Family of 5 is huge, and they need a strong leader. Pray about it, see where it goes and have God holding both of your hands the entire way.

I wish you luck and I am slightly jealous! I wish I could find a man such as yourself who is so strong in the Lord! I am glad there are still some out there that really hold onto God like you do
 
I'm definitely praying about it. Her daughter that I taught this year is a really great kid. I still remember the first day of school, she had me in her last class and she told me that I was her favorite teacher. :) We'll see where it goes. I am definitely looking forward to going to church with her and her kids on Sunday.
