When I was a teenager I used to babysit two boys who are now 16 and 18 years old. Two years ago their very young mother--had her first son at 15--had another little boy. My mom and I realized there was something amiss right away, but his mom wouldn't have it. She is extremely vain and proud. A short time ago, through the encouragement of a grandmother, a team of doctors determined Jason was fine. The grandma insisted on further opinions so to accommodate her, they did a procedure that they felt was unnecessary. The team met again afterward and admitted that no one would have found out what was wrong with Jason had they not fine the procedure.
They discovered that his skull was overlapping near his ear instead of expanding to accommodate his growing brain. The fluid around his brain was quickly disappearing and there was pressure on his aural and optical nerve. Without immediate surgery, he would be retarded, blind, and deaf.
He went in for surgery Monday night. It was done in half the projected time. They had to crack open his skull and expand it manually. He's in the icu and doing well.
His mom is a baby Christian who is concerned that God will not save Jason because she isn't married to his father. Jason will also always have a portruding forehead which strikes her vanity chord. Pray for baby Jason, and his mom, Michelle.
