My family aren't Christian. My big brother is filled with contempt and anger, not sure why he has built up this wall that doesn't allow us to get in. My little brother smokes pot, is a sensitive and cynical person, he also doesn't let anyone in. Everyone in my family is on an island of their own, aside from my parents. My father isn't close to any of us, he has his own emotional bagged that he has never dealt with. We don't talk to each other and don't see each other unless on family gatherings. I've prayed for them before but nothing has helped. My prayer life has really sucked. Things that I have prayed for (healing, reconciliation, that they would come to Christ) has never happened. It has made me question if I am praying to no one. I don't know really why I am writing this, nothing seems to work and I end up an emotional wreck after family gathering, because I hope for change. I guess I still have small hope, but I am told that I just have high expectation and should just accept the way things are. Please pray. I really want to know that there is a God that hears and will grant this prayer. That it isn't just wishful thinking.

You are doing what is asked, you pray for your family and have given them in Jesus to God Our Father.
Some seeds take time to grow, because the soil needs to be made ready for it. :)
Praying for you and your family in Jesus.s name.

Hey, arwen. First of all-I'm sorry to hear that your family is broken. That is how Satan works. He is happy to see that a family is broken. Don't let him to destroy you or your faith in God. I want you to know -> that I understand you so well. I have been praying for my mom for such a long time. And-the funny thing is -> my mom is a christian. She knows what is sin and what is not-but still she will make up any excuses to live her life the way she does. I don't want to get into details what is wrong with her life (if you want you can PM and I will share my story with you). The thing is-we are praying for her for such a long time. And sometimes it looks like-it is getting a lil bit better...but after some time-it gets worse. Such a roller-coaster. And believe me- I am so tired of all that sometimes -> of praying and talking to her. Sometimes I feel myself like loosing hope. Sure-when we pray about something or someone we want to see the results immediately. Oh, well-but sometimes that just doesn't happen like that. God has His own timing and ways to do things. I was so angry and disappointed so many times-but I just have to realize-that I just have to let it go. I should stop controling my mothers life. I'm not God. I can't change anyone. It is such a burden to live with a thought that I can change her. But we still pray for her and I'm trying to love her the way she is. It is not always easy-since I don't like some of the things in her life-but my only hope is in God. It also helps me to remember-that I am no saint myself. And God works in all of us. Some are just easier to work with and some are not. ;)

I will pray for your family. Do not loose hope. Pray for them and love them they way they are (I know it is not easy)-but we have to do that.

God bless.

Thank you for your prayers. I feel that God has to protect my heart each and every time that I am around my big brother. I always end up crying and losing sleep over the anger and hurt I feel from being around such a hostile environment. Last night I had poor sleep, and felt the tension from anticipating going to my parents tomorrow.

Hi Arwen, Commit your parents to the Lord, know that he loves you. Let his love fill you completely. Do not be disheartened at the situation that has come to you, be of Good Heart. Know that the Lord will turn it for Good.

We are to trust God. Yet this means we have to be placed in situations that require trust, to learn it.

Does it help to look back and see where God has been faithful to you? I find it most helpful so I thought I'd throw it out there. ♥

Praying for you all, dear Arwen.
love,
ellie

I didn't see much of my big brother tonight, he didn't acknowledge my presence when I was around him like usual. I can go through a whole family gathering without him saying a peep to me or about me. And little to no eye contact like I don't exist. Or if he does have something to say to me, its some sort of insult or jab at something I am talking about. It was a less hostile environment than other times. He even said goodbye as I was leaving. And that rarely happens. I thought to myself, 'wow I got a goodbye, that must be the work of God' lol. I hope too much after such situations, that things are changing, and then the next time I am there, I realize that they are the same. I guess I set myself up to be let down.

Try not to take it to heart or lose hope Arwen,
Our self worth shouldn't be dependent upon what family or friends think of us
remember, once we come to accept Jesus even our family may be against us
I realize that may not be what you wish to hear as I'm sure you want a better relationship with your family who you can share your joy in the Lord with
but what God thinks of us is more important, right?
