My friend, Rach, used to be my enemy. We hated each other. When she was pregnant with her son, we got closer and started hanging out. When I was jobless I spent many days with her taking care of her son. She's very abrupt and offensive. She woul say I have no filter, but I believe she doesn't either. She makes jokes about me always about something she doesn't like that I do or have done. Usually it's something I've said. I've never really confronted her. tonight she and my sister in law were joking and Rachel brought something up. Now my sister in law has been offended many times by me. Most of the times they aren't my own fault. For instance last time she was offended because I told her that her dress was cute. She told Rachel later that I had only said it becaus I have the same dress and thought I look looked better in it. So Rachel was talking about a story that she didn't post in Facebook because he said "we all know
Jordi would have commented on it.". The conversation went on from there with them laughing at more of what they considered my failings. When we got out of the car texted my friend that I was hey and humiliated by her comment any felt ganged up on. She said she was sorry I felt that way. Apparently she called and knocked on my door but my phone
Was on silent and I was getting ready for bed. Her response: "typical". I texted her back and she called furious. She didn't mean it. It was a joke. And she says we shouldn't be friends because I CONSTANTLY say things. Those were her words. She couldn't give me examples. She said she'd let them slide off her back, but it seems to me she really hasn't let them slide off her back if she's making jokes like she does. I don't know what to do with her. Shes a very angry person.

Im so sorry Jordache. Praying for your both in Jesus on this.

Ill keep praying in Jesus.

Months ago I started pulling away from this friend in a very natural way. She's a stay at home mom. I work. So, we didn't have as much tim to spend together. In the space I realized that it was probably better for me not to get to close to her because she is very angry and insenstive. Now that she's wirtten me off I've been spending more time thinking and praying. Rachel has a very hard exterior. Her father was very physically and verbally violent. She's the kind of girl that would punch first and think later. She's even admitted to me that she got so angry with her toddler that she almost threw him into the wall. I believe she is hurt by more things thann she's really willing to admit to herself. We all hurt each other. In our best intentions, we say and do hurtful things. Rachel has always brought things up in a joking manner and been very adamate that they didn't really bother her. She just thought it was "stupid". Her reprimands came off as I was her child. "Why in the world would you say something like that?" "that was retarded." There was never really an adult confrontation with her. As I think back, yes, there were things I said by mistake and I wish I could take back. However, much of what she has reprimanded for have not really been anything that was wrong per say. They were simply things she didn't like. Just imagine if you had dark humor and you were hanging out with someone who considered dark humor the most offensive thing they ever heard. The humor itself itself isn't actually wrong. Now, I'm not trying to say there is nothing that I did to contribute to this. Please don't think that. After speaking to a few close friends I realize that my desire to pull away from her was good. Two of three friends said very bluntly, "Rachel is immature." I realized that when they said it. I'm glad that I have wise friends around me.
Now I'm not sure how to handle the situation. There are things I'd like to talk to her about, but I'm afraid of her response. Her stepfather is the pastor. He is one of the main people I would always go to for counsel. But I also know he's not very objective when it comes to her.

Honey, I applaud you for considering things from her perspective.
I guess I would counsel you to exercise prudence in your next step with her.

You can always say something to her, so maybe just take some time to speak to the Lord about
what He wants you to do. If you know her step-dad has trouble being objective about her (understandable)
is there an assistant pastor? Or maybe a ladies Bible study group leader?

I'll pray for you about this. I trust your own heart is okay in Jesus. ♥

Well.......do what you can and leave the rest to God.
How did that job interview go?
God has an answer for you.
For both you and your mom together.
Amen.
