Prayer is vital in winning the spiritual battle(Ephesians 6:10-18) which is raging with great ferocity now in the world and be encouraged that Jesus has already overcome the world(John 16:33). Christians are getting persecuted, killed, tortured in many countries(eg: India) for boldly proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. Please pray for these saints. Meditate on these Scriptures:
"Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice." Psalm 55:17
"The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth." Psalm 145:18
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you" Matthew 5:43-44
I ask that we pray for those people who are persecuting Christians, that they too may come to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus. Paul is a great testimony to the fact that even a person who formally persecuted/killed Christians can be converted and preach the gospel to the nations! I also ask you pray for protection for those Christians around the world who are being hunted like sheep for the slaughter(Psalm 44:22, Romans 8:36) and that God's mighty angels will protect them.
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." Matthew 7:7-8
"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14
As we stride to become more like Christ, our wills start becoming His will(Luke 11:2, Luke 22:42) and we will ask things according to His will.
"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." 1 John 5:14-15
"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel" Ephesians 6:18-19
"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving" Colossians 4:2
"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
"And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints." Revelation 5:8
God's will for each of us believers is to pray. Prayer is very effectual and POWERFUL in our lives(James 5:13-16). Pray for God to lead us through the fiery times ahead. Pray for wisdom, strength, humility, courage, discernment for us as Christians. Pray for your friends who are not saved. Pray for the imminent Lord's return. Pray for other Christians to pray. Pray for the world, than many would become receptive to the gospel and be saved. Use the model prayer below as a guideline:
"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." Matthew 6: 9-13
