Western North Carolina has been in a severe drought lately. We're also dealing with the effects of several wildfires that were started intentionally last week. Because of the dry conditions, some fires are very large and difficult to contain, which could take months to accomplish. Several areas were also evacuated as a result. Many fire departments have been called in to help with the firefighting efforts.
Our first chance for rain won't be until Saturday at the earliest. I would like to ask for prayers for lots of rain to reduce these fires and prayers for the safety of the crews on the front lines having to deal with this.
