Preaching has never been nice for the sinner ,starting with John the Baptist. MATTHEW; 3; 5-8; Then went out to him Jerusalem,and all Judaea , and all the region round about Jordan, 6; And were baptized of him in Jordan,confessing their sins. 7; But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers,who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8; Bring fourth therefore fruits meet for repentance. And there was Jesus preaching; MATTHEW; 11; 23; And thou,Capernaum , which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell; for if the mighty works which have been done thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day................The mighty works Jesus was talking about was the prophets preaching and performing miracles ,whom they killed. Saying that if Sodom would have seen these same miracles and changed their lives, that it would still be standing to this day. He was talking to the Roman Government, foretelling it's downfall. The roman Government was in control of Capernaum in those days, and the people were high class and proud. Jesus preaching was reproving sin in the world. preaching against it.,and a lot were offened.
