PRIDE
Do you know people who are really proud?
Do you know people whenever they start to talk; they have the power to turn a sunny weather into a typhoon?
Some take pride on their good looks; where they live or the money they make. While some the skills they have; the degrees they acquired; the awards or recognition they received. While others to the family they belong to; to the connection they have with powerful and influential people they know or the race or nationality they belong to.
People who usually have pride become arrogant, they feel that they know it all and have it all. Talking to a person who is full of himself is just like talking to a person who is having a monologue. All they talk about is how great they are and they’re accomplishments. Some of them even think that they are God's gift to humanity.
Pride is focused on oneself and they feel that you are better and more superior than others.
Pride can create an illusion of self-sufficiency, that you don't need others and you can do it on your own. You believe that you have the power to do and achieve anything.
Never allow pride to bring us to a place that we cannot come down.
Make sure we always bring a ladder on our way up, so once we reach the top, we can come down anytime we want. No matter how good or successful we become, we just need to keep our feet planted on the ground. Never allow the deceit of pride to set into our mind and heart that we are the reason why we became successful.
Remember the higher you go, the harder you fall.
If someone praise or congratulate us, enjoy the moment but never allow it to stay in your mind.
Once we entertain the idea that we are really great, it offers the illusion that we are powerful and invincible. We are made to believe that we cannot make mistakes and that we are perfect.
But praise be to God, when I was still a salesman God had taught me a valuable lesson.
I hardly took any time to rest and was working very hard, turned day into night and day into night.
But at the end of the day, I was not making any progress.
Until I realized that I have been doing everything entirely on my own. I was not trusting God but trusting in my own hard work and resilience.
When I finally decided not only to work hard but also to depend on God, then things started to change.
From bad to good and from good to great. Sales were at an all time high and orders kept on coming in. There was a particular month that God blessed me with so much, it was equivalent of 6 months of my regular income.
From that moment on, I declared, “Apart from God’s grace and faith that was instilled in me, I can do nothing.”
I believe that God is the Author and Finisher of my faith.
I cannot take pride or credit to whatever achievement I have.
That is the reason why I need to be reminded everyday no matter how many books I sold; how many speaking engagements I book in a year; how many people who attend my live seminars; how many TV or radio appearances I make; how many awards I win for my show. It is all because of Him not because of me.
I am just an actor who receives the applause of men. But an actor will be a nobody if he does not have a producer, a director and a writer.
These are the people who are working behind the scenes to create a great movie. But without them, he will just be an actor who is unemployed.
So I need to be intentional in reminding myself, that no matter how successful I have become, it is not because that I am great, industrious, hardworking, talented, wise, patient or persevering or have the right approach. The reason why I am the person that I am today is because I placed my faith and trust in God.
It's not about me; it's all about GOD!
