Okay, I don't know what it's called, but how do I post directly to a person's profile wall (is that what it's called) rather than sending them a private message?
 
You can post a quick message to a user's wall, if that user has visitor messages enabled and does not use the "Only allow mods and contacts/friends to post on my wall" filter.
 
In other words, if you don't see a wall, they have it disabled. If you do see the wall, then you'll see the spot to write to it. Some people choose not to keep a wall up.
 
Go to Control Panel, then under Settings & Options go to Edit Options and enable/disable Visitor Messaging
