Why does it not bother people when they admit their prophets can ((and frequently do)) falsely prophesy?

Maybe we need a new word for whatever it is they are doing if they're not prophesying in the Biblical sense. You will notice that nowhere in the new testament is "prophesy" redefined, as it must be now if we are to accept these people who need to somehow learn to muddle through their own sayings by trial and error as prophets.

I rather think that if God should use me to add to His very own words, there's not going to be some % wrong in what He puts on my lips. He is able.

It would be much easier to swallow if they admit they are coming up with this stuff on their own. But when it's God told me this, God told me that, God says so and so, and then some of it is wrong, how should I believe they really know the voice of God?
Whenever a person gives a thus saith the lord kind of prophecy I instantly am suspicious, I have yet to meet a real prophet who speaks like that. The prophets I have seen simply speak what God placed on their hearts and they don't claim to be prophets either. Many who claim to be prophets tend to see themselves higher than others in God's ranking and often times speak and are met with opposition which is understandable considering the common false prophets we see today.

But as for the prophets of God I have seen they are hardly met with opposition and others see God's heart richly in them.
If one is a prophet they need not say so because their fruits will show it and let me tell you it's not God has commanded me to say or thus saith the lord and it's not dreams and visions or words of knowledge either. I know his prophets because I know the fruits to look for but the prophets of God are not what people expect. Many expect the old testament prophets but this is not the kind of prophets he sues this day at least not in that specific manner

That's hilarious! :)

The Bible speaks of elders having oversight in the local assembly, but it doesn't use "covering" in the same sense. Your post highlights the errancy of that practice. A "board" can function in the same way, but a single person probably shouldn't.

I first heard 'covering' from Vineyard folks in the early 1980's. It irked me then, and it still irks me now. It isn't really tied to a Bible passage. I heard one guy try to argue it from I Corinthians 11, but it doesn't make sense, which is what my post above illustrates. One version of the covering doctrine is that you aren't responsible for your own actions if your 'covering' tells you. That's a heavy shepherding version.

The idea that every ministry has to have another preacher as a 'covering' isn't even Biblical. The apostles appointed a group of elders in an individual church. The churches existed before the elders were appointed. So mutual accountability within the body if there are no elders, and within the eldership and the body should be an appropriate structure as far as the local church is concerned. I don't see Paul looking for a 'covering' for his ministry.
