3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. 4 The Lord works out everything to its proper end— even the wicked for a day of disaster.
So let’s focus on what Jesus is doing. I think it is clear that the Lord has committed to God all of His plans. It is also clear that God is going to establish those plans, He will work out everything to its proper end, even the wicked for a day of disaster. What is the proper end? They need to separate out the wheat from the tares. The wheat is for the barn, the tares are for the fire. They need to separate out the fish from the net, the good fish go to the wedding banquet, the rest get thrown out. This needs to be done in a way that is not only clear to God, clear to the angels, but even clear to us. If someone is raptured and someone else isn’t it needs to be clear why.
5 The Lord detests all the proud of heart.
Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. In this election we see the proud of heart on full display. To censor news about Biden but not about Trump demonstrates your pride. Their polls were shown to be atrocious if the purpose was to reflect the electorate. However, if the purpose was to affect the election it shows how proud they are to think they can ignore the will of the people and manipulate them as though they were that gullible. Why is it that 44 states can get their results in quickly, but the 6 key states for Trump with Democratic governors can’t? Why is it so hard for them to count votes? It is one thing to be incompetent, it is another to think that you can simply steal an election. That is pride and arrogance.
6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.
There is a lot of sin that needs to be atoned for in this country. What we are lacking is love and faithfulness, that is why we are seeing so much evil. We could have avoided this if we had feared the Lord but for the last 50 years or more you can see no fear of the Lord.
7 When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them.
Let’s get to the heart of the matter. Why is there no peace in this country? It is because the Lord does not take pleasure in these ways. He doesn’t take pleasure in the way the Supreme court usurped the constitution to force abortion to be legalized in every state. He doesn’t take pleasure in the things that are being taught to children in schools. He doesn’t take pleasure in the things that are not being taught to children, like the fear of God.
8 Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.
Some people see this lockdown as God’s judgement on the schools. The things that are being force fed to kids in the schools was abhorrent so God intervened. It is better to be homeschooled, even if in many ways it is less than what we had with the schools if we have this education with righteousness. I can definitely see a future where schools can be run by the church. The public school teachers can still provide online lessons in various topics, but instead of each kid staying at home, they can go to the church with twenty other kids. Parents can go to work while also controlling the curriculum and their kids can be taught in a humble school but with righteousness.
9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
This is a repeat from verse 1. How does the Lord establish your steps? How was Michael Jordan able to rise to the challenge when Pippen got hurt? You train twice as hard as you think you have to. You don’t cede authority to evil worldly authorities, rather better is a little with righteousness. Through love and faithfulness you atone for sins. You commit your ways to the Lord, you fear God. You purge your heart of pride. And you believe that the Lord will work everything to its proper end, including the day of disaster for the wicked. That game that I mentioned was the last championship game that Jordan won, his sixth. It crowned an already spectacular career. It was a proper end.
10 The lips of a king speak as an oracle, and his mouth does not betray justice.
I love these expressions “his mouth does not betray justice”. During the Kavanaugh hearings the #MeToo movement erupted claiming that we need to believe women that are claiming they have been sexually abused. This was a poor example in my opinion as it violated the Biblical rule that you don’t accept an accusation against an elder except with two or three witnesses. Still it became a major cause and during the Democratic primaries Kamala Harris pointed out that she believed the three women that had made allegations against Biden. So what happened? How is it that now that she is the VP candidate she no longer believes them? What happened to the #MeToo movement? To my observation their mouth betrays justice.
11 Honest scales and balances belong to the Lord; all the weights in the bag are of his making. 12 Kings detest wrongdoing, for a throne is established through righteousness.
Right now we are still waiting to find out who won the election for President. Still I can say one thing for sure, Biden will not be established. Why? There is no righteousness. Hiding from questions about his involvement with his son’s influence peddling, that is not righteous. Having the media censor these stories to help you, that is not righteous. Kings detest wrongdoing, and Jesus is King. He detests the proud of heart and they will not go unpunished.
13 Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value the one who speaks what is right.
These are two things and they are not always the same. Honest lips are a pleasure, a person without any deceit is a pleasure, but that doesn’t mean it's always right to say certain things. You can take pleasure in someone who is honest, but you value, you respect, the person who speaks what is right.
14 A king’s wrath is a messenger of death, but the wise will appease it.
I am reminded of Abigail who appeased David’s wrath which was literally “a messenger of death”.
15 When a king’s face brightens, it means life; his favor is like a rain cloud in spring. 16 How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!
Once again think of Abigail’s husband, Nabal. He had wealth and thought that made him somebody. But he was a fool and that would have cost him his life.
17 The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives. How much better to avoid evil.
Again I consider this election and it was stunning. There were two main candidates, one campaigned like there was no tomorrow. Everyone on both sides was amazed at how hard he worked. The other was equally stunning in how little he did. No one could believe that he would virtually curtail all campaigning for the last two weeks. Once during this time he even said “I don’t need your votes to get elected”! What kind of campaigning is that? How did he plan on getting elected if he didn’t need their votes? Did he take an evil path?
18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.
I have to believe that this must refer to the proper ending of this age and the day of destruction for the proud.
19 Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.
If you share plunder with the proud you will always live in fear. Will those we plundered rise up? Will one of these proud that I am sharing with get caught in their crimes and rat me out? Will times get tough and these other proud ones turn on me to plunder me?
20 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. 21 The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction. 22 Prudence is a fountain of life to the prudent, but folly brings punishment to fools. 23 The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent, and their lips promote instruction. 24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Right now there are a lot of words being spoken which are not sweet to the soul. Right now you can see a lot of folly on the streets. First, take care of your walk with the Lord, make your calling and election sure. If you are all bent out of shape because someone else’s election is not sure, what about yours? Isn’t that much more important to you? Yes, someone is trying to steal the election of the president, that is for sure, but even more Satan is trying to steal your election. Imagine that we have a time machine and we can go into the future to a point in time where you have died. Do you really care who won this election, or what they did about healthcare or climate change? Aren’t you more concerned about your standing before the Lord Jesus? Do you think that referring to your brother
or sister as “thou fool” because of who they support in this election will sound that wise when it is repeated at the judgement seat of Christ? Maybe you are right, you are full of discernment and wisdom, but then your lips should promote instruction and your words should be healing to the bone.
