Question...does anyone think purity rings are cool anymore...My dad gave me one when I was 13 and I love the idea and I’ve even kept my promise to stay pure.... I’ve never even dated...but some people don’t seem to think my ring is all that great or what it symbolizes is all that great...some even think it’s weird...was just wondering what others might think about it!

I think it's cool! In todays world sex is so open and ramped that the worlds mindset on it is totally purversed. You vowing to be pure until God brings the right man into your life, if that is what you desire, is awsome. I applaud you Kayla:) As the women would say, at least those behind you,; You go girl! :)

I think it's a blessing, Kayla. Truly. Perhaps those who attack them simply aren't as strong as those of you who wear them. I admire you. God bless you for your dedication to the Lord.

Kayla, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks really. It means something to you and that's all that matters. If someone thinks it's weird, then so what? I'm sure plenty of people thought Jesus was weird. We should be different. So if someone thinks it's weird, try to think of it as a compliment. Of course the ring is just an outward symbol. It's the choice you've made within yourself that truly matters.
I want to encourage you to keep doing what you're doing. I admire you for it.
I've got you by errrr a few years at least...and I've been thought of as weird, etc. etc. for not doing what "typical" guys or people do concerning dating, sex, and other things for years. I just try to ignore any comments that are negative though. The world hated Jesus, so the world will hate us.
I would hope that your Christian friends would respect what you're doing and what that ring means to you.

I think they're great! I've had one since I was 15, and they're a great reminder because (as Justin Lookadoo says) things tend to become heated when your hands move around. Most of my girl friends have them :)

Kaylagoodgal , the Lord leads, and, waiting is def from Him. Judging other, of course, is not from God so never ever make a spectacle of it. God bless your passionate response to your daddy's gift to you, his girl. :) (How about song , 'Butterfly Kisses?')

Waiting IS worth it , though a bit older than yourself, I am waiting too.
Read Elizabeth Elliott' s book , Passion & Purity. It is a great story of how true love forms from God's leading.
May the Holy Spirit always, always, always be helping you WAIT. And, never forget that God will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5)

God bless ALL you ladies out there truly waiting on God, for the time He finds you the exact right one for you. He will, when it is your time, He will make it happen, His timing, but He will, and, you will be lifted up, like up on the wings of an eagle, soaring, soaring, soaring, with great joy. ( Isaiah 40:31)

Until then, many temptations surely will come your way, for Satan, and, his demons working for him, are real and they will ruin our lives if we invite and coalesce those wretched ways, but remember ALL of Proverbs 31, including the verse I am sure you have heard said before: A woman who fears (not a 'scared of physical' fear, but fear NOT doing His way) the Lord shall be praised.

This is my guy verse entering in but it really puts into perspective, as top POP christian artist, Chris Tomlyn says, How Great Is Our God.

Read Isaiah 66: 1, 2 to understand how awestruck we should be of God's made power, by Him, everything created of creation so God, made so good. When you fear God, remember that means fearing not following His words in the bible.

Well, that's your sermon for tonight, may you find strength in all those around you helping you will your life prayerfully after God's plan. The Lord leads . :)

Nice zero i see what you did there. I approve.

And as far as purity rings go...i think they are kind of cheesy. And not because of the meaning it just seems like something invented to get cash from people. However having said that, i think its great that you are staying pure ring or not. If the ring has meaning to you then wear it though.

Aww Kayla! So glad and proud of you girl! I keep a purity ring too :) And I totally think it is a wonderful commitment to the Lord! So no worries, you are doing just the right thing! God bless you and your pure heart!!

To be honest, I don't quiet get purity rings. People wear them while they're virgins, so actually...it's a virginity ring. When you lose your virginity, you'd supposedly have to take your ring off as a sign you're not a virgin anymore. Is this something you really want to tell to others? Sure, not everyone is gonna be able to tell that losing your jewelry meant you had sexual relations, but some might and it's just something you don't tell out loud in my opinion.
Also, what purity do we talk about when we refer to purity rings? Having sexual relations doesn't make you lose your purity, as well as not having sexual relations doesn't necesarily make you pure.
I do understand why people would use them and I think it's nice. But for me, the reminder of staying pure for the future spouse lies in the heart of the person.
How about a purity necklace :p?

There are too many people who wear them that are not virgins. I really don't see the point anymore.

Well Henry, I don't know about your place Panama, but keeping a purity ring in Albania is totally NOT part of its culture as most of albanians are muslims.. (there are Christians too btw lol)...I heard about it from other cultures aka Amreican and me keeping a purity ring doesnt ring a bell to the Albanians here (cept some christians who might know its meaning), so I'm not shouting out any signals at all..lol... For me it is a promise between me and the Lord...and don't worry it has nothing to do with things such as idols or so...it is just a simple symbol of this promise...But you are right, the very promise and it's true meaning is in my heart. :)
And btw, I do have a fav cross-necklace :D but it has nothing to do with this topic at all :p

Oh I know Eldita. It's not really a part of panamanian culture to wear purity rings either. And I do understand the symbol behind the ring, but I think sometimes ppl aren't really coherent in what the ring really means to them.
Either way, I do praise the person's choice to remain pure for marriage and the vow they've made to the Lord. The ring is just jewelry to me.

Amen.

We aren't supposed to advertise our charity in public nor brag about ourselves. And I have seen too many cases in my own experience that the ring becomes a point of pride. That is the point outside people laugh and roll their eyes, knowing the line between Christianity and secularism isn't that strong.

Also, if a guy was shopping around for a girl to marry just depending on the ring or not? I find that creepy.

When I spoke it Kayla getting ring from dad, I find that neat and maybe wearing it ALL the time is not the right thing to do, the Lord leads (Truly, pray to Him daily y'all for every concern and detail of your life, 'pray without ceasing,' scripture says. :) ) But, I am not a girl so ring-thing is not my thing, LOL, but, yeah, just trying to say here that the Lord leads and the promise to God to remain pure def refers to your body, HenryPam.

and, Elgirl , you mentioned the .promise to God. Yes!

Allfunfor, I understand what you are saying and respect those bad experiences you'ce seen, but please don't ever let persecution of a ring or anything keep you from keeping a promise with God long ago, those that 'laugh and roll their eyes' at person know not what they do, they are, or, should I say, Yes, I will say, flesh and blood supporters (followers?) of Satan.

I do not say this stuff all of rings and things to be judgmental or mean, but to speak the promises of the Word of God and the power of He who is in me is GREATER than he (Satan) who is in the world.
Do not judge others, respect their opinions, and, love your neighbor as yourself.

So, if you (gals, and, yeah, guys) are keeping purity promise to God, then do WHATEVER IT TAKES to keep that promise, ring, whatever, because the Lord leads , and He will NOT allow you to bear more temptation than you can bear, that is scripture too . :)

If the ring becomes a point of expressed pride, that could be very offputting. But, I think that if they are worn by those with firm convictions, they could open a door with an unbeliever to discuss other matters of faith...you never know.

I had one before, but I was robbed. But I still keeping the promise. Even a girl said me "Wow you are amazing!" And I said, that's nothing if you love God and dont want to fail to him.

Thanks Megatron, sworn nemesis of Optimus Prime. I'm glad somebody got it! :)
