yes i think that one will not last..granted i to do not care for all the stuff this guy says about other translations..as i am ok with the common english bible,the AMP,the NIV(not my favorite at all but many use it and its been trusted even in seminaries etc),and my favorites, the VOICE,and the 1909 reina valera aka the antigua(many spanish purist fundamentalists only go with the gomez bible or the reina valera purificada/purified which supposedly is equivalent to the king james)

The KJV was the closest to correct in 1611. Languages change and the vernacular changes. I am a Greek and I am a Greek scholar. In spite of the KJV only diehard thumpers, the KJV has errors in translation from the original Greek. The Greek language uses one word for one meaning. In the English, one word can have many meanings. Such as, I love you, I love cats, I love donuts, I love God.

When the New Testament was translated from the original Greek (koine) , the King James translaters, chose the very best possible English word for the very precise Greek word originally used. Since many of the english words are not precise, some Greek words were translated into phrases, not precise, but as close as humanly possible. There are no errors in the KJV significant enough to nullify intended meanings, but the translation is far from perfect and is certainly not pure or "inspired" as many KJV only people believe.

Americans especially stopped buying the KJV because as our vernacular and cultural english evolved, many of the old english words and phrases made no sense were not easily understandable.

No translation is perfect, because the people who translate are not perfect. The only New Testament version that is "God's perfect, inerrant, infallible and pure word" is that which was inspired by God, and written in the Koine Greek.

I think it's dangerous to declare what is God's perfect and pure anything, unless you are quoting scripture itself!

In speaking with many Catholic priests over time they have informed me that they do not read the Holy Bible directly. Likewise, some Catholics whom I have asked if they are "Born Again" have looked at me funny and have told me they don't know what that means. Your mention of the R.C.C. also brings to mind the fact that they use missalets during Mass. That is of course not using The Holy Bible so what do you and others think about that practice?

Please pardon me as I am a baby Christian & don't have the wisdom of some others here, but this is enlightening to read these posts. Personally I use the NKJV . I have tried & failed to understand the King James version. I have recieved other versions as gifts but I still cling to my NKJV.

I blame the modern Christian church for this queen bible, look around and you will see many denominations hiring gay clergy, marrying gay couples, and promoting the greatest lie leading millions into perdition, telling them they can be a practicing homosexual, and still go to heaven, as long as they just believe in Jesus!

boy oh boy..here we go with catholic conspiracy once again! I am going to say this..I being not a catholic..though some have assumed I am a catholic because i do not see the catholic as my opponent..I have much more in common with a catholic who believes that Christ died for all than the high calvinist 'protestant' who does not even believe John 3:16-17..and has to put in his/her own definition of what is evidently said here.

I do believe the 'queen james' is a satanic perversion..but to say all other english translations are the work of roman catholicism? Seriously? That is not only erroneous, but few believe this.
I will say this, i can agree with KingJamesonlists in this one thing..pretty much all Kjvonlyists are not calvinists, and me opposing reform theology as strongly as they do makes us workers on the same team. I hope that those who feel that their KJV is superior, for whatever reason..would see that catholics are not your enemy..yes many are not saved..many do not have a relationship..but there are some catholics who actually are saved(surprised?) yes..

The church affiliation is not as important as much as what do you with Jesus? Do you accept his free gift of salvation? Or do you choose your own way and reject it?

The saved roman catholic is a worker in the field as am I, as is the southern baptist..that non denom tongue praying guy over there..etc etc.
As far as faith..I put my trust in Jesus, and not in some Bible translation..not all speak english, not all read english as well as you and I do..we do not speak elizabethian English anymore..and the spanish bible existed before the 1611 kjv..so why not we all just read the bible in spanish? The same error about the KJV being the only option lead some fundamental baptists to try to 'purify' the reina valera spanish bible and taking the 1602 and rushing the OT translation which made it only 'half pure' as the OT did not read on par with the KJV OT. And if you are not reading the 1611 KJV..you are reading a revision actually..if i was to be a KJVonlyist..this is the version i would use..the original. Oh btw, i hate to break it to you, but that guy Erasmus who helped translate the bible, he was a catholic..and the original KJV1611 had the apocrypha did it not?

You must understand that this is a only a small fragment of the body that holds to this KJVonly stance..what seems to be a new wave and trend is the ESV proponents out there replacing their KJVs with english standard version bibles. The NKJV will be a good option..there will be those here who will tell you to burn all the others but the KJV..this is merely an opinion and an extreme one at that..sure, keep a KJV on hand if you wanna use it for cross reference..but i know many who simply do not get it or understand it..i gave several copies of the gospel of John to a coworker who had issues understand the KJV, gave him ESV copies, though its not a translation i read..he enjoyed them and said i helped him understand..so, yes..modern english options are out there..just know many here have many different views..regarding salvation, predestination, gifts of the spirit, cessationism..bible translations..works/no works/grace only gospel..etc.
Just study to show yourself approved..take all that folks say here with a grain of salt, and line it up with what the Word says..be blessed neighbor.

I agree with you - especially about the Koine Greek. I myself do not place the KJV as being 'equal' to the original Koine Greek Text. However, I would like to add that I believe - even today - the KJV is STILL the closest to the original Koine Greek (particularly with regard to being the 'pure word'). ALL of the modern English translations have lost even more of the definition of the original 'very precice Greek words' - which you were very correct to state (because it is true). Even the NKJV - in dropping all of the 'thee's and 'thou's, etc. - has done a great dis-service to the reader.

(And, I am not even mentioning perversions, here - but, that which is lost from the original meaning of words in the original language - because it is not "carried over" into modern English.)

I am moved by the posts by everyone discussing the different Bibles and versions, I only know that when I read Gods word and apply it to my thoughts and actions it moves me and stirs up my soul and convicts me of wrongful things that make me want to do those things pleasing to God.
I also know as his word says that by studying his word it helps us to rightly devide the word of truth.

When I know Gods word and I read another interpretation or hear false quotes of scripture the Holy Spirit is always quick on the seen in my mind to point out truth and lies and therefore I turn from it...

I am however having an on going discusion with my son about the so called mirror bible have you heard of this or universalism??
