Thank you for your answer here but can you help me understand why the second amendment is there then?
Is it to look good or ... something else? Because as you say, it is infringed all the time but it doesn't say to overthrow.
But this is what people claim of other countries, they don't have guns so they're doomed ... about anything.
So help me understand this conundrum.

As far as guns go, i am just like you, i don't own them, i don't need them, i never needed them and i'm pretty sure i will never need them either.
I also realize that many others have like 10 ARs for whatever reason.

Could it be perhaps that the second amendment has nothing to with anything except with the desire to own weapons? You know, we all like something.
For example, i LOVE masks. Some people LOVE guns.
I don't care if you have 10 guns for example. Enjoy them.
I will also sleep with my mask happily.
hey, Eli :)

just want to clarify. i said we've never owned a gun. didn't say we've never needed one.

take a map, find nowhere, put a pin in the middle of it. got it? that's basically where we live. six houses on a cul-de-sac, and behind both sides of the street are hundreds and hundreds of acres of uninhabited land. we've had rabid animals (esp raccoons) and one obnoxious bear in the backyard where my grandbabies play. grrrr (that's me, not the bear lol)

like you, i don't have an issue with gun enthusiasts. people collect and enjoy all kinds of things. i absolutely love hunters. in our neck of the woods, deer cause far more car accidents than drunks (or even people looking at their phones), and i appreciate hunters keeping the herd numbers down. believe me, when the bear was threatening the safety of our littles, i wanted a hunter!

as to the part of your post i bolded, no, i disagree with it.

My first statement...people are free to do as they like. I'm a libertarian. Do what you like. But your freedom ends at the tip of my nose and my property line.

"I'm a libertarian". This is probably why we get a long. I'm a librarian also. :)

"Do what you like". This is actually a satanic doctrine, but you probably didn't mean it that way. Ron Paul fan by chance?

You can't control people, so let people live their lives, and let me live my life. That is pretty much the Libertarian view point. To be honest, I think I'm a Libertarian-Monarchist, Jesus is my King, and everyone gets decide how to live. It's not my job to rule over people, that's God's role. Whether people decide to follow the King is their choice.

I'm not a Trumpist.
No, but rumors are circulating, that you are pianist.

As far as the topic of masks..... I think the Bible states to quarantine the sick, not the healthy. Healthy people shouldn't have to wear masks, but if your sick, please stay indoors until you are well again. Proper masks like the N95 could be worn, to help stop spreading. I don't see how cloth masks really do much, but that is just my take.

There's way too much there to respond adequately without a lot of caffeine. Suffice it to say I enjoyed the image of you wearing your nerd glasses with tape holding them together shushing kids endlessly.

I appreciate your candor and your fairness spirit. We don't always have to agree on things but i'm just trying to show free-will in this topic and other things that come along with it such as self-awareness which also brings more responsibility and more wisdom.

If i was in your situation i'd probably get one too. But i'm a city-slicker and i go to supermarkets to buy food, i don't hunt for it. :LOL:Personally i think guns are for hunting or sport but that's just me.
I've done only once some skeet shooting with an expensive Italian Benelli shotgun and Italians are all about looks. The shotgun looked shiny with stainless steel with hand made engravings and beautiful wood work.
I didn't particularly enjoy it but i enjoyed the company of the people i was with. And that's my whole experience with guns.

God bless you and i hope you have good internet out there. :D

Nothing wrong with libertarians. Nerd librarians is a whole other thing.
None of us are 100% anything because 100% libertarian policies leads to anarchy and chaos since we live in a fallen world. I also esteem a certain good for society so I favor things that promote the general welfare. The problem in our time is that churches have largely failed in this role and government generally fails in all it does.

I understand what you mean and appreciate your peaceful and loving spirit. I SUPER agree with Jesus being King most of all, and our King commands us to go out and make disciples of all nations, right? That is something we are all called to do and each of us is uniquely made to do this is our own ways, so I'm not suggesting we are all to do this in the same way, or follow the same gifts in the same ways. I just wanted to make this clear before I "disagreed" (not as much a disagreement as a deeper dive into the thought) with anything.

When I read "I think I'm a Libertarian-Monarchist, Jesus is my King, and everyone gets decide how to live", I just can't seem to agree with the "and everyone gets (to) decide how to live" part. What if they decide they want to live abusing little children? Do we just sit back and live & let live? Do we just watch what we know to be harmful and wrong happen all around us and just shrug it off then let it go? Know I know we can't make people choose the right thing, but I also know you can't just let them get away with everything scot free either. I'm not trying to "debunk" your lifestyle, or "prove you wrong" here, nor am I just trying to just be right. I just believe Jesus calls us to engage with the world and to not accept these things, but the way we approach this goal is as varied as we are.

Again I understand exactly what you mean and appreciate your heart. I do agree with you to a HUGE extent, it was just when I read "Jesus is my King" and "everyone gets (to) decide how to live" in the same sentence it compelled me to make conversation about it. Anyway I hope I didn't come across as too critical or aggressive, and I thank you for the comment that made me sit and think for a bit. Have a great day.

I really don't understand the whole rage thing surrounding the masks.

I could understand it if it was about pants on 60 YO men. (Because I am one and still don't like wearing them)
Pants are hot and constricting....I get all hot and sweaty when wearing them. I much prefer a bathrobe left open...but for whatever reason they make me get dressed to go to the grocery store, coffee shop, and even church.

So...since apparently there is this thing about "unseeing something " that people cannot seem to do....I have to wear pants even in the library where the sign says "get comfortable with a book" and there's even a chair there for doing so....completely conflicting messages IMHO. But whatever....

Carry on with your hate and anger farming over ridiculousness.

Haha, no no nothing like that. There isn't any malicious intent when wearing a mask basically.
It's more of a thing like being at work in the office and i sit down, say good-morning to the group while having a mask on and getting ready to start the day like nothing has happened while having my blue mask on which matches with my shirt.

When you see that and you're sitting at the next cube over, would you have a problem with it?

Well, here is the issue, some people do have bad intentions wearing a mask and police don't know the difference. There's a whole lot of robbing stores going on and they are all wearing masks. You could never go into a bank before with a mask on, same reason. So no, I see a reason to wear a mask for fashion. It's far better for people to see your see your face and and expressions. And secondly, your voice is muffled with a mask. As a boss I wouldn't want people wearing a mask.

A sneeze is one thing, but a fart takes it to a whole 'nether level, never mind the shart. I think it should be mandatory that underwear be lined with a sheet of Febreze air freshener.

Just so you understand....

Most criminals (like 99.999% of them) are stupid. About ¾ of them are opportunistic crimes...no forethought or planning whatsoever.
Cops are also somewhat lazy these days so they do as little work as possible...especially when investigating crimes.
Do you have any idea how many thieves and murderers bring their cell phones with them when they commit these crimes? Accessing their location is past the point of ease....but often "detectives" don't bother. (Which is even dumber IMHO)
Then there's the GPS tracker in their vehicles. (Satellite radio devices still ping...AKA OnStar) Again easily discoverable information by a police detective.

So what I'm saying is that your argument doesn't hold water. Your face can identify you but it's usually completely unnecessary. Watches. Vehicles, cell phones, traffic cameras, bank ATMs, parking lot cameras, dash cams, and a million other little cameras out there tell us all we need to know. Just because you can't access all of these cameras doesn't mean anything.

Well the next question is going to be: How would Rose feel is someone took away something that she likes if they ran the world for a day?

Ok Rose, so if you ran the world for a day, what would you do about the whole mask situation?

The world? That's a big place. There are countries that cover their faces for religious reasons,as was stated. For America, I see no reason to wear masks. Studies have shown they do not protect against COVID or it's strains. So wearing a mask is a placebo, it's all in the mind. It also is being used to hide identity in commission of crimes. And it is terribly difficult for little ones. So for a day I would say, leave your mask and home and breathe.

I am not putting pants on my face...

I have a face for radio...so I can understand why people want me to cover my face.

I do understand that facial expressions are part of communicating with others and those who are very into manipulation are seething with anger over this subject.
Their words are insufficient anymore to manipulate anyone because of their incongruity.
It's why people want everyone to return to the office...because their work product is, and always has been, insufficient in some capacity. They need to stroke enough ego's to keep their job and get promoted. (Which is the only real talent they had to begin with)

What these rages expose is their own inadequacy. Nothing more.

The Emporer is without clothes.

Pretty good perspective Rose but i'm glad you use the word Placebo.
This is exactly why i was asking why the second amendment is there in the first place, and i also linked it to a placebo without saying the word placebo.

So if you're able to see other placebos which apply to different groups in life, would you be able to see your own placebo which someone would like to take away from you for example?

Not sure I would call a religious reason for a face covering a placebo. Nor would I say at all times a mask is a placebo. Some use the mask against the flu or colds and say it works for them. If they choose that, I am not against it. What I am against is mandates for people to wear masks and closing down schools, even playgrounds were closed. There was no science behind any of the social distancing, the plastic partisans, the one way arrows, one person per household, the eating in a tent in the parking lot. And the vast majority of this has made people distrust their doctors, the CDC and world health org.
