If theres one thing that I really dont like...its when people from out of town insult your home town. If their own town was so great, why did they feel they needed to leave to come to mine?

I dont get why people do this, do they want me to agree with them?
Or do they want me to point out all the bad things about their home town just to compare.
And its not as if I ever want to go to their home town because they dont have jobs or anything there to attract me.

So, how to deal, or just say...uh, whats your problem, if you dont like you can just go back to your home.

I've heard people say that my home town is boring. But I'm a boring person so I feel like I belong here and I don't get offended.

At least they dont say its full of criminals and gangs.
They somehow Implying that you also are a criminal and gang member perhaps. Um no I dont really have anything to do with criminals and gangs I guess it takes one to know one.

Well you know what they say about poor little Adelaide
"It's a great place to live in, but you wouldn't want to visit there." ;)
and about that cesspool Sydney people say
"It's a great place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there."

There's a site to help you prepare for people like this. I won't link it, in case it's against site rules etc., but you can essentially order custom printed toilet paper.

And then you simply say to such people, "Yeah, I can see that my hometown might have some problems. But at least it doesn't feature as a pattern on toilet rolls like yours does, to encourage kids to wipe!" Then display the custom printed toilet paper featuring their home town, which you prepared earlier.

Yea maybe we should say, ok got any more insults or have you quite finished hating my home town yet.

There's always the option to say nothing and ignore it. Find things of greater value and substance to put your time and energy into. Rather than a persons subjective view of where you live.
You could attempt to engage this and spend lots of time with witty comebacks, but for what? Is it going to change anything? No.

But if you dont tell them they will keep insulting your hometown and not know its the wrong thing to do. When you ignore things sometimes, people think you just accept it.

Is it really causing anyone harm? Or letting the insulters know, with some humour, that he who lives in glass houses shouldn't throw stones?

I guess that question is up to the conscience of the individual toilet roll consumer.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. If they're just visiting or passing through, it's doubtful they'll have a chance to experience the things your town has to offer and be able to appreciate them like someone who lives there might.
I live in an area where we get tons of rain. Some people refer to my town as the 'armpit of the Island'. Most places where there's a crowd has waffs of the smell of marijuana. Not very appealing to someone here visiting. (Unless they really like rain, armpits and pot! 😉 )
But I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth! Short drives to lakes, the ocean, well kept trails. While walking in many neighborhoods you see deer, bear, eagles, (sometimes even orcas if you're at the right place at the right time!)

Matthew 5:10-12 New King James Version (NKJV)
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you

I suppose everyones entitled to their own opinion but doesnt mean theyve been asked to give it or understand what they talking about.

And also I think people with a negative world view always going to say something bad before they say anything good. Maybe it does make them feel better about themselves but why would this be? Wouldnt you actually feel better about yourself if you have something positive to say about other people and places?

Im just trying to nip this in the bud especially with people that have a tendency to do this. Its so draining to be around negative people. And worse if they are falsely accusing people of something theyve just observed in passing and havent lived here for a while. If they are like this with me they are like this with everyone and maybe...this is why they have no friends because nobody like to listen to a negative nelly.

I had two workmates who were not from my town and they would just go on and on about how they hated it, I would be like stop the ute. Go back home if all you going to do is complain about it. Plus if you dont like how theres so many people in my hometown why did you come here to add to the population?! Just makes no sense.

Canada - great scenery awesome landscape BUT
your choice of Prime Ministers is bewildering.
Can't beat our choice of president. Last time around we didn't have much choice. We had to just hold our noses and vote.

This is what we get for not paying attention in the primaries.
