Hello.
I am a single mother who recently ended the relationship with my sons father. Prior to meeting my ex/sons father I was a believer. I attended church regularly, was active in the church, and had an intimate relationship with the Lord. While in my relationship with this man, I compromised my beliefs and somehow lost myself in him. We got pregnant, thought we can make the relationship work for our son but the truth was, what we had was not of God. I wanted so bad to have a mate that i allowed my emotions to lead me and not seek God.
I have left my ex due to his lies, deceit, manipulation, verbal and physical abuse. Now, i am strong enough and honest with myself to know that i do not want a relationship with him any longer. I am rebuilding my relationship with God and focusing on raising my son.
Anyone with a similar situation please respond..

I'm 16, and I've been in just about the same situation. I wasn't married to the guy though, and we never did anything quite so serious. We didn't get that far, thank goodness. But I completely understand how you feel... "Breaking up" with God isn't easy. I can guarantee the road back to God will be rough, but it will be worth it! Don't quit on God, he won't quit on you.
:) May God bless you in your effort though.

I admire you for being strong for both you and your son by leaving such an abusive situation. I also admire you for acknowledging your own shortcomings and your need to restore your relationship with God. I think the majority of us can relate to that part in some way or another.

If I may, I'd like to recommend a book, that is if you have both the resources and time to read it. The title is 'How to experience Revival' by Charles Finney. Basically this book discusses matters of the heart which might hinder our personal walk with the Lord and what we can do to overcome those hinderances if in fact we find ourselves facing such a hinderance.

While it is a small book (and cheap on Amazon.com), I must admit that the contents of this book is a lot like a heavy dose of very strong medicine. It might very well be a little too strong for you at this stage in your walk with the Lord however, it's definitely something to keep in your personal library for another time or it might be worth giving to a christian friend who has found themselves distanced from the Lord.

Anyways, may God bless you, encourage you and empower you daily to live for Him. I'm sure He's proud of you too! :)

Thank you for sharing. I can relate to your story in some ways and not in others. Twelve years ago I was engadged to be married. We both got impatient and decided all we had to do was marry ourselves under God. What a miss this turned out to be. I had even shaved my head and made a vow to God. Because of this vow I made to my Lord however I grew into a deeper relationship with Him.

We had a baby girl, howevermy wife (confessed in the Lord), her mom, and her church all wanted her to get an abortian. I could not go along with that so I would not consent. They respected my wishes and did not abort my daughter. However because of this my daughter's mother side of the family tree has nothing to do with us whatsoever. So when she gets alittle older there will be some big questions.

The point I am trying to make is that yes this is a little unorthadox situation but because of my vow to remain faithful to my wife (confessed in the Lord) I have put aside all sexual immorality even after we seperated. God conformed me to His sexual purity image of Himself. Now I pray for a godly woman to come into my life. And I hope one day God sends one, but I will no longer give in to any type of sexual immorality. So if I ever do get married will be under God and a wedding in a church.

My family has gone through something very similar. If he really is this abusive please stay away from him. If he causes you ANY problems GO get a temporary protective order!

What is your situation with your family?
