No conditions to be reconciled !

Not all men are reconciled to God by Christ's death while being enemies, and thats simply because Christ's death was not for everyone without exception. That's why some are reconciled to God while being enemies and unbelievers Rom 5:10 and why some are under Gods wrath and condemnation while being enemies and unbelievers Jn 3:18,36 !

There is simply only one explanation for this, Christ died for some who are enemies and unbelievers and did not die for others who are enemies and unbelievers !

The enemies and unbelievers that Christ died for are reconciled to God by it, did not perform any conditions whatsoever, because they were actively enemies and unbelievers, So Christ fulfilled all the conditions necessary for them to be reconciled to God while being enemies and unbelievers ! 13

Romans 5:10 teaches that reconciliation was secured “by the death of His Son” while we were enemies, but John 3:18–36 teaches that unbelievers — including the elect before conversion — are under wrath until they believe. These are two separate classes are they not?
one reconciled and one condemned?

"OMC,

You are fundamentally failing to distinguish between Nature and Covenant, and you are completely confusing the court of God (in foro Dei) with the court of human conscience (in foro conscientiae

)
.
When you quote Ephesians 2:3 to prove the elect are 'children of wrath' before conversion, you miss the vital word the Apostle uses: 'by nature' (φύσει).
  • By Nature (Our Experiential Reality): The elect are born in Adam, inherently corrupt, spiritually blind, and walking in a state that deserves wrath. In our experience, and under the Law of Works, we are completely ruined. Until the Holy Spirit gives us faith, our conscience rightfully condemns us.
  • By Covenant (Our Legal Reality): We are preserved in Christ, loved with an everlasting love, and our entire legal debt was permanently extinguished by our Surety in 33 AD (The Legal Phase).
They are not two separate classes of people. They are the same people running from God in their fallen nature, while completely secured and legally reconciled by God in His sovereign covenant.

By claiming that the elect are under outstanding judicial liability in the sight of God right up until the moment they believe, you force God into an absolute violation of His unchangeability. You are forcing a timeline where, the exact second a sinner has faith, God's internal mind, decree, and emotional state must completely flip from judicial hatred to judicial love based on a temporal human act. You have a mutating God who reacts to human timelines. But Malachi 3:6 says, 'I am the Lord, I change not.'

As John Gill masterfully explains, faith does not create our justification or procure our reconciliation; faith is the eye given to a blind sinner so he can look up and see the courtroom ledger that Christ already cleared 2,000 years ago while we were still enemies (Romans 5:10). Faith is the manifestation of the verdict to our conscience, not the trigger for the verdict in heaven.

Stop dividing the unified purpose of the Trinity. The cross was a finished, self-executing satisfaction, not a provisional framework waiting for a human signature. Answer the legal question: If Christ perfectly satisfied the law for the elect in 33 AD, how can God justly hold an outstanding judicial liability against them for those same sins for a single second after Calvary? You cannot have a satisfied debt and an outstanding liability at the same time. That is double jeopardy, and the high court of heaven does not practice it."

You’re trying to solve a tension Scripture never creates.
When Paul says the elect were “children of wrath” by nature
(Ephesians 2:3), he is describing our experiential condition in Adam — corrupt, blind, guilty, and rightly condemned in the court of conscience (in foro conscientiae).
But that experiential reality does not cancel the covenantal reality that, in Christ, our legal debt was extinguished at the cross and our reconciliation was accomplished before we ever believed.
The mistake you’re making is treating Nature and Covenant as if they were competing truths, when Scripture treats them as parallel truths about the same people.
"These are two separate classes are they not?
one reconciled and one condemned?"
Same people different classes. You twisted what I asked.
By nature, I was ruined and deserved wrath; by covenant, I was loved with an everlasting love and secured by my Surety.
These are not two classes of people — they are one people seen in two courts: my conscience condemns me until faith, but God’s covenant has already secured me in Christ.
When you confuse those courts, you end up denying either the depth of human ruin or the completeness of Christ’s legal work. Scripture affirms both without contradiction.**

"OMC,

This is absolutely magnificent. You have just completely surrendered your entire position, adopted my exact High Calvinist distinctions word-for-word, and you are now desperately trying to pretend that this was your view all along!

Let’s look at the absolute theological whiplash you just gave yourself in a single paragraph:
  • Your first sentence: 'Same people different classes.'
  • Your fifth sentence: 'These are not two classes of people — they are one people seen in two courts.'
You are so frantic to escape the corner I backed you into that you are literally contradicting your own sentences four lines apart!
But more importantly, look at what you just confessed. You explicitly wrote: 'In Christ, our legal debt was extinguished at the cross and our reconciliation was accomplished before we ever believed... by covenant, I was loved with an everlasting love and secured by my Surety.'

Thank you for completely conceding The Legal Phase of Eternal Justification!
By admitting that the legal debt was extinguished at the cross and that you were secured by the Surety before you ever believed, you have completely abandoned your old conditional framework. You can no longer claim that faith is the legal trigger or the threshold of justification. If the debt was extinguished in 33 AD, the ledger in the high court of heaven (in foro Dei) was completely clear.
You have fully agreed with my point:
  1. At the Cross (33 AD): Legal acquittal was achieved, debt was extinguished, and the elect were covenantally secured. There was zero outstanding judicial liability remaining against them in the court of God.
  2. At Conversion: The Holy Spirit brings the manifestative knowledge of that finished acquittal to the court of human conscience (in foro conscientiae). Faith receives the news of a debt that was already extinguished 2,000 years prior.
You spent the last several rounds arguing that the cross was just 'legally sufficient' but not 'judicially applied' until faith. You argued that before faith, the elect were under real courtroom damnatory judgment. But the moment you admitted that the debt was extinguished and secured by the Surety before faith, you admitted that God held no outstanding legal liability against them.
Welcome to High Calvinism, OMC. You have officially affirmed John Gill’s doctrine of Eternal Justification. You have acknowledged that we are one people seen in two courts, and that faith is the non-causal manifestation of an eternity-settled verdict.

Next time, save yourself the trouble of fighting the finished work of Christ for three rounds just to copy and paste my own argument back to me as your defense. The cross was a finished execution, the court of heaven was satisfied, and the debt is gone. Soli Deo Gloria!"

Pay Attention...
You’re treating two different categories as if they were the same thing:

Descriptive language about how the elect appear in different contexts vs.
Ontological classes of humanity.
When I said: “Same people, different classes.”
I was describing functional categories (how they appear under law vs. under grace), not metaphysical classes of humanity.

When I later said: “These are not two classes of people — they are one people seen in two courts.”
I was clarifying the ontological unity of the elect while acknowledging forensic duality (heaven’s court vs. conscience’s court).

Those two statements are not contradictory.
They are describing two different axes of the same reality.

You collapsed them into one axis, then declared victory over a contradiction you manufactured.

Reconciliation by Christs death is not just unilateral !

The terrible mistake of false religion is to believe and teach that Christs death is only unilateral in its effect, but that is a grave
mistake. You see, that makes the death of Christ falling short of reconciling , bringing man to God, which the scripture teaches that it does. Peter writes of the death of Christ this fact 1 Pet 3:18

18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

See, His suffering for our sins was for the purpose of bringing us to God ! He by it, leads us to God. It also :

  1. to render one acceptable to God

It does that which God told cain that if he did well he would be accepted Gen 4:7

7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted?

Well Christ death, for all whom He suffered and died for causes them to be accepted of God, without them doing anything !

Christ's reconciling death will also cause us to come to God in being saved to the uttermost Heb 7:25

25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Notice " them that come to God BY HIM ! Meaning His reconciling work which brings them to God 1 Pet 3:18 !

Paul writes also Col 1: 21,22a

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled. How ?

22a 22 In the body of his flesh through death,

So those who teach that Christ's death effected only a unilateral reconciliation, they teach lies, they teach ignorantly, and do Christ's death accomplishment a disservice ! 13

Received into His Favor !

Those sinners Christ died for, by His Death alone having been applied to their account, even while being enemies/unbelievers [by nature Eph 2:2-3], nevertheless they have been received into His Divine Favor, having been reconciled by His Sons Death for them Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Paul writing to believers states that when they were unbelievers/enemies they were [had been] reconciled to God, not by believing, but by the Death of Gods Son. Now that word reconciled is the greek word katallassó and one of its meanings is:

to return into favor with, be reconciled to, , to receive one into his favor.

This is what Christ's Death for them alone accomplished, it put those Christ, the Son of God, died for, it put them into Gods Favor, the Psalmist wrote Ps 30:5

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Now how can sinners in a state of being unbelievers/enemies still be reconciled to God, and received into His Divine Favor ? Its because of what Christ's Death done before Gods Law and Justice ! 14

Received into His favor 2

When sinners are reconciled to God while they are enemies by Christ death Rom 5:10, they have been received into Gods divine favor. Now this can only be possible if their sins have already been put away and they're remembered no more Heb 8:12

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

This is also them whom God will not charge or impute sin 2 Cor 5:19 and Rom 4:8

So them that have been reconciled to God while they are enemies and unbelievers have no sin charged against them , or they could not have been reconciled into Gods divine favor.

It presents us , those he died for, holy, and unblameable and unreprovable in his sight.

That is the True result of being reconciled to God by Christ death while being enemies Rom 5:10, Col 1:21-22

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

This result comes through His Death, not by Faith, for vs 22a makes that clear.
14

Being reconciled by Christ death while being enemies Rom 5:10 coincides with being made righteous with Christ death while being enemies Rom 5:19! We can be reconciled to a Holy God only if He views and accepts, reckons us righteous!

And since the sacred testimony is that believers had been reconciled to God by Christ death while being enemies, it's also true that they were declared righteous before God by Christ death while they were being enemies! 14

Those who are reconciled to God while they are being enemies
Per Rom5:10, are also Justified before God at the same while being enemies, because Gods Justice
Shall not charge them with sin, hence Justified from all their sins while unbelieving enemies.

The Mystery of Reconciliation !

Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

This blessed reconciliation by Christ's death is a Mystery unto the carnal mind, it cannot be received by it, hence confirming the writing of Paul 1 Cor 2:14

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

The natural man is simply the person who has not been born again, or born from above Jn 3:3

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

You see, the Mystery of Reconciliation, by the Death of Christ, reveals to the saved, that even while they are being enemies, they had been reconciled to God, put into a right relationship with Him !

They were at one ment with God ! In fact, to be reconciled to God is at one ment, from the word atonement as its mentioned in Vs 11 Rom 5:10-11

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

That word atonement is reconciliation, and so when sinners Christ died for are still enemies by nature, children of wrath as others Eph 2:2-3 they are nevertheless in an reconciled at one ment relationship with God, while all others are under His just condemnation and wrath Jn 3:18,36.

This the natural mind of man cannot fathom, or appreciate, in fact its absolute foolishness to him ! 15

The Mystery of Reconciliation !2

Another thing about reconciliation that is an Mystery to the natural man and foolishness, is this, those reconciled to God while being enemies Rom 5:10 , dont have their sins imputed to them as other people do . Check this out 2 Cor 5:19

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

See , reconciliation means that the reconciled do not have their sins imputed or charged to them, a whole world of people, jews and gentiles. All the sins the reconciled commit, from birth to the grave, can never be imputed to them. Its not even possible for those reconciled to God to ever die in their sins !15

The Mystery of Reconciliation !3

Another Mystery of Reconciliation, even while the reconciled are being enemies Rom 5:10, and not having their sins charged to them 2 Cor 5:19, is the fact that they are counted righteous ! Yes, God hath imputed righteousness to them without works !

This is seen by scripture comparison. The reconciled dont have their sins imputed to them 2 Cor 5:19 and as such they are forgiven Ps 32:1-2

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Pay attention to holy writ here. Transgression are forgiven, their sins are covered, when the Lord imputeth not iniquity Ps 32:2;2 Cor 5:19

Now pay close attention when Paul quotes David here in Rom 4, here goes Rom 4:6-8

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

,See that ? Even though Rom 4:6 isnt in the Ps 32 quote, nevertheless the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write it here in Romans, when Paul goes back to David to quote Ps 32:1-2, showing therefore, that them blessed ones who dont have sin imputed to them, are forgiven as well as have Righteousness imputed them without works, without them doing anything, without any action from them whatsoever !

So the reconciled are righteous !

So, technically speaking, the world of 2 Cor 5:19 is a Righteous world or the world of 2 Cor 5:19 is a reconciled people who are righteous in the forensic sense.”

The High Priestly Sprinkling: The Legal Application to the Account

This is the crowning forensic mechanism of your Phase II (Legal Phase) framework. It completely answers the conditional religionists' primary objection: "How can a person be legally reconciled while they are still historically an unbelieving sinner?"

The answer lies in the distinction between Justification in the Court of Heaven and Justification in the Conscience of Man. For the elect to be truly reconciled to God by His death while they are still historical enemies (Romans 5:10), there must have been an immediate, objective application of the cleansing blood to their legal account in heaven, completely independent of their historical awareness or faith.

1. The Heavenly Sanctuary and the True High Priest

We do not look to the sinner’s heart to see when the ledger was changed; we look to the heavenly sanctuary where the transaction was finalized. After His sacrifice in 33 AD, Jesus did not leave salvation hanging in a provisional state. He passed directly into the heavens to function as the sovereign Advocate and Surety for His people. As written in Hebrews 4:14:

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.”
As the Great High Priest, Christ did not merely make a payment; He performed the sprinkling of the blood, legally applying the value of His death to the ledger of those specific sinners for whom He stood as Surety.

2. The High Priestly Sprinkling of the Nations

This specific, sovereign application was prophesied centuries before Calvary. Isaiah writes of the suffering Servant entering His exalted, high priestly ministry in Isaiah 52:13–15:
  • The Suffering: His visage was "so marred more than any man."
  • The Priestly Action: “So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him...”
This "sprinkling of many nations" is the forensic application of the blood of Christ to the international body of the elect (both Jew and Gentile). It is the legal action that alters their standing before God while they are still walking on earth as ungodly rebels.

This is why the New Testament explicitly labels the blood of Christ as the "blood of sprinkling." It is a blood that is actively accounted for in the presence of God:
  • The Covenant Mediator: Hebrews 12:24 points us “to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.” Abel’s blood cried out for vengeance against the guilty; Christ’s sprinkled blood cries out in the court of heaven for the absolute judicial acquittal of the elect.
  • The Covenant Order: 1 Peter 1:2 binds this together, declaring the elect are chosen “unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.”

4. The Objective Putting Away of Sin

Without the total removal of sin from God's judicial sight, reconciliation is a legal impossibility. Christ did not make a provisional attempt to put away sin; He actually achieved it. Hebrews 9:26 declares:

“...but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”
The Conclusion is Irresistible: If sin was objectively "put away" before God by the sacrifice of Himself in 33 AD, then the ledger of the elect was cleared at that exact historical moment. That is precisely how those Christ died for are fully reconciled to God even while, in their historical experience, they are still enemies and unbelievers. Their standing is secured by the High Priest who sprinkled their account in heaven, long before the Holy Spirit breaks their enmity and reveals that finished ledger to their conscience in time!

The Mystery of Reconciliation ! 4

Another Mystery about biblical reconciliation by the death of Christ, which the natural mind cant understand, it is the fact, that those sinners Christ died for, and reconciled to God, even while they are being enemies, they have peace with God, God is at peace with them. Col 1:19-21

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

God has been reconciled and peace restored to all sinners Christ shed His Blood for, even when they are enemies !

The Blood of His Cross accomplished this for them, not anything they did or will do !

And we know this isn't true of all mankind since many are under Gods Wrath Jn 3:36 ; Rom 1:18, which can only mean Christ's Blood was not shed for them ! 15

Reconciled to God—and Dead to the Law!

The elect are not only reconciled to God by Christ's death while they are enemies; Christ's finished work also removes the Law's condemning claim against them.

Paul says:

“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son...”
—Romans 5:10
Notice the condition of those being reconciled:

Enemies.

Their reconciliation was accomplished by the death of Christ, not by their subsequent faith.

Now consider Romans 7:4:

“Ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ.”
Why are they dead to the Law?

Because Christ's body was given in their place. His death satisfied the Law's righteous demands concerning the sins He bore.

That is why Paul says:

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.”
—Colossians 2:14
Notice the language:

The handwriting was against us.
It was contrary to us.
Christ took it out of the way.
He nailed it to His cross.

The Law's indictment was not merely postponed until the sinner believed.

Christ dealt with it at the Cross.

That is the Legal Phase.

The elect were guilty.

The Law had a legitimate charge against them.

But Christ stood as their Surety and satisfied the debt.

Therefore, the Law cannot ultimately condemn those whose sins Christ actually bore and whose legal debt He actually satisfied.

Paul asks:

“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect?”
—Romans 8:33
And answers:

“It is God that justifieth.”
Then:

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died...”
—Romans 8:34
There is the foundation.

Christ died.
The charge was answered.
The Law's condemnation was satisfied.
The elect are justified.

Faith does not go backward and make Christ's payment effective.

The Spirit's Vital work does not go backward and complete an unfinished Cross.

Rather:

Christ's Legal work → the Law's condemning claim is satisfied → the Spirit gives life → the sinner believes and repents → he consciously enjoys and manifests the salvation Christ accomplished.

That is why the Gospel is so glorious.

The elect can be enemies in their minds, as Colossians 1:21 says, while already having been reconciled through Christ's death.

Their minds still need renewing.

Their hearts still need regeneration.

Their unbelief still needs to be overcome.

But Christ does not need to die again.

The legal debt has already been answered.

The sinner's practical conversion does not reconcile Christ to the Law.

Christ has already satisfied the Law on behalf of His people.

That is why they can be described as:

reconciled to God by His death,
dead to the Law by His body,
and free from the Law's condemning charge.

The natural mind cannot receive the glory of this Gospel because it wants salvation to begin with something the sinner does.

But Paul takes us somewhere else:

“When we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son.”
And:

“Ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ.”
And:

“Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect?”
The answer is:

No one.

Not because the elect were never guilty.

Not because the Law had no legitimate claim.

But because Christ answered every legitimate claim against them at the Cross.

The Law demanded satisfaction.
Christ supplied satisfaction.
The charge was nailed to His Cross.
And God's elect are free from its condemning claim.

That is the glory of Christ's finished Legal work. 15

The reconciliation is complete !

The reconciled world of 2 Cor 5:19 and Rom 5:10 by the death of Christ, cannot be under any circumstances, not one member of it, under the wrath of God, for reconciliation with God is also peace with God, meaning that through Christ's finished work, God is at peace with the reconciled world through the blood of Christ Col 1:19-22

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

In the body of his flesh through death
, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Now the word for reconcile here vs 21,22 is apokatallassó and means nothing short of:

to reconcile completely !!! This is not a partial or one sided reconciliation as the false teachers tell us, falsifying by saying , God has done His part through Christ to reconcile man, but now its up to man to do his part by accepting it or believing it before it can be a complete reconciliation both ways. Again that's falsifying not found in scripture. This satanic teaching undermines and sabotages the complete sufficiency and efficiency of the death of Christ to have successfully reconciled both parties to one another, that is God to His Elect, and His Elect to God. In fact the word reconcile here goes on to mean: to bring back into harmony, to draw to Himself/Oneself so that the reconciled one becomes devoted to God.

However false teachers deny this, because they are unable to receive the scriptural teaching of being reconciled to God by the death of Christ, even while being enemies Rom 5:10 ! 15

The Legal Anatomy of Complete Reconciliation
To easily weaponize this text in your forum debates, contrast the finished reconciliation of Scripture against the bankrupt, conditional model:
FeatureThe True Gospel (Apokatallassō)The "Man of Sin" Model (Conditional/Partial)
The Legal StatusObjective & Absolute: God has entirely made peace through the blood of the cross (Col 1:20).Hypothetical & Open: God is merely "savable" or waiting to see if man will sign the treaty.
The State of the SinnerAccomplished while we were yet enemies (Rom 5:10).Suspended until the sinner initiates cooperation via free will.
The Extent of Peace100% removal of divine wrath. God is legally at peace with the elect.Partial. God's wrath remains active against the person until they perform faith.
The Finished ResultInfallibly presents the soul holy and unreproveable (Col 1:22).Dependent on human perseverance; can end in total failure and hell.

The Reconciliation is Complete 2: Finished Federal Harmony at the Cross

The foundational error of conditional religion is the belief that the cross of Christ merely created a one-sided "offer" of peace, waiting for the creature to activate it. Scripture completely shatters this by declaring that the reconciliation is an already-accomplished, objective legal fact.

How was this absolute peace achieved? Look at the definitive language of Colossians 1:20:

“And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”
Notice the finality: peace was not merely made possible; it was made. The singular instrument of this peace was the blood of His cross—the exact same substitutionary death of Romans 5:10:

“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”

1. The Greek Definition of Peace Demands Mutual Harmony

By His death, Christ established an actual, binding peace. The underlying Greek concept relates to εἰρηνοποιέω (eirēnopoieō), which means: to make peace, establish harmony.

This legal reality could not be true if both parties were not genuinely reconciled to one another. This is not a subjective change in the sinner's feelings; it is an objective establishment of harmony between God and man. God's holy wrath was fully appeased, and the sinner's legal guilt was fully blotted out.

2. The Law of Covenantal Headship

This completed harmony does not originate with men in and of themselves. It belongs to the elect as they are legally represented in Jesus Christ, their Federal Head.

To understand how an elect person can be legally reconciled to God while still walking as an unborn or unconverted "enemy" in time, you must understand the law of covenant headship:
  • The First Head (Adam): In the beginning, all of humanity possessed a perfect, vital harmony with God in Adam at creation, before the transgression. Even though billions of humans did not yet exist, they were legally counted as at peace with God because their federal head was at peace with God.
  • The Second Head (Christ): Likewise, those men and women who were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world possess a perfect, unshakeable harmony with God. Because Christ their Head successfully completed His death, burial, and resurrection, His harmony with the Father is legally imputed to them.

The Sovereign Verdict

Every single soul whom Christ represented on that tree possesses no less harmony with God than humanity possessed before the fall in the Garden of Eden. Before the fall, God was reconciled to Adam and all men in him.
At the cross, God was completely, unalterably reconciled to the elect in Christ. If you are in Christ, your peace does not depend on your fickle tracking; it rests entirely on the immutable, historical fact that the blood of the cross successfully established an eternal harmony that can never be broken!
