About 5 years ago, Adam moved into a home opposite where I was living at the time. He was very friendly, divorced, had a young son and a well paid job. The home was run down and he worked hard to clean it up. He invited me over a few times and I witnessed to him. He did not accept but he remained friendly.
My now wife and I moved a couple of km away. I saw him several times, as if God was drawing my attention to him. It was way beyond coincidence. The last time I saw him, prior to today, was near an alcohol shop. Adam stopped and we spoke briefly. As he turned enter the shop, I told him that God was after him. He said, "I know" and disappeared into the shop. Adam drank every day and had told me that he wanted to quit for the sake of his son.
I got home from shopping. Adam showed up at the front door, beaming. We had a short chat as he needed to get back to work. He was obviously a changed man.
I was given a word about four years ago: "Do not despise the day of small things" Zechariah 40:10. I have big ideas for my future, but I'm nearly 75. So my time is limited. Meanwhile, God is leading people our way that we have been able to help in some way.
Brethren, if 300 believers in a fellowship are able to help two people a year, that's 600 who are blessed. If there are 10 churches of 300 in a city, that is 6,000 who are blessed. If you are born again, then you are in a position to help someone who needs it. You are not insignificant. You are a member of the body of Christ. Jesus will use those who are willing and available. Don't worry about the ability. Jesus has an unimaginable store of that.
"I pray that your partnership in the faith may become effective as you fully acknowledge every good thing that is ours in Christ." Philemon 6
If you want to be effective, focus on who you are in Christ and who He is in you.
