I wanted to ask for christian advice regarding my current relationship. I have been dating this guy for about 3 years, we ate both christian, but I don't think his heart is after the Lord anymore. It has been a struggle for me to go through what I am going, he always told me that he hated repetition and that lately I had become controlling, I was afraid that he would do something that could hurt me. His Co workers are non christians, and he likes beijg around them, I was afraid that this would cause him to drink more since he likes drinking and he told me that he didn't see anything wrong with smoking weed, and the people he works with do that. He did say that he wouldn't do it because he knew I didnt want that. Lately we had been arguing alot about him going out with them, and he would get a temper and start yelling at me and walk away, kick his chair out of anger saying that I was judging him that I made him feel restricted, and was repetitive. Something he had told me he hated, and that made him upset so he said that it was my fault because I didnt listen to him, and I brought negativity to the relationship. I told him I couldn't help it sometimes, that I had concerns and fears. Everytime he did this I really felt guilty and I told him I was sorry I was doing that. About 3 weeks ago, I had been very sad and anxious, I could explain why and one day we had an argument in the morning then I apologized and he seemed to have moved on, when I went to see him that day I had something to drink because I felt I wasn't going to be able to talk to him feeling at ease, I wanted to tell him that I was struggling with something that I didn't even know why I was so anxious, when I started to talk I began to cry and he got so angry, he yelled, he said he didn't need this, and me being emotional that he wanted to just relax and started to scream and walked away and he broke a window with his fist, after this I went after him in shock and he cuss at me and left. After this episode I didnt talk to him for about a week, when he went to see me and we were going to go to church, he told me he was sorry that it wasn't him that night, that all of that happen because he was frustrated at me and he exploted, that he wanted me to accept 3 conditions, or he couldn't see our relationship working. He wanted me to accept him wanting to go out with ppl, and time to himself, and to accept him smoking weed of he wants to. That he had smoke the week he didn't see me with one of his coworkers and her husband, and he doesn't see anything wrong with that, instead it brings him closer to god. In the past before I met him he told me he used to do drugs but that he quit that lifestyle, and I never really question that. He even said that if I can't accept him to let him go. I feel like I am not appreciated at all, even loved. All this time I never introduced any bad habits or addictions into his life, and he treats me this way. I want to find the strength to leave him, because even writing all of this kills me.

I'm not in a relationship (sorry), but you need to break up with him, you have to accept the pain that comes with that loss, because you'll be tougher because of it. It sounds to me that you may be more than he deserves, because there's nothing wrong with wanting someone you care about to practice disciplined behavior especially when it come to having a relationship with God.

Let yourself learn from this experience, and let him go.

Exactly what Penknight said... You deserve better than what you have. There is someone for everyone out there :)

I agree with penknight and littlebit you deserve so much better, you really do.

I agree with the others as well, that you deserve better! Usually when I come to Christian chat & read the prayer request, I simply feel lead to "speak life" into desperate situations, as we all do. I cant help but feel that maybe in your specific situation regarding this strained relationship, that its really time to surrender everything to the Lord. He wants to be your Lord & Savior, and redeem everything broken in your life. If Jesus is your Lord and Savior, let Him be first place in your Heart & Life. Spend time with the Lord Daily & in His Word. Jesus loves you & wants to be your everything. Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Thank you to everyone that replied. I really want to do god's will for my life, I thought he wanted to seek his will as well, that's what he kept telling me all this time. I have showed him the scriptures about honoring the temple of God and being sober minded, to him he doesn't see any harm in what he does. Then he tells me that he wants to volunteer at church, and agreed to go to christian counseling, he wasn't able to talk to the pastor the time we went but I did, and as I told him all of this he told me that this is who he really is, that he is already verbally abusive, and I'm beginning to think that he has mistreated me, and put the blame on me for his reactions and frustrations. It is so hard for me to be in this place, because from all the bad things I have tried to keep only the good. I have carried his burdens and my own. I can't understand how he doesn't appreciate me, im not a bad influence to him, all I ever wanted was to follow god. Now it seems as he only cars about his own desires, he says he prayed to god to tell him if weed was wrong and he didn't. The other day he told me that he can't surrender all to god becuase his pride gets in the way, and its a process for him. I told him how can you say you can examine yourself if you haven't surrender completely to him, I said today is the day of salvation that's what the bible says, and he was just quiet and he cried a little bit and said my heart is hardened. Please pray for me that I can find the strength to leave, I can't go down the road of destruction and deceitfulness along with him.
