So I'm single for the first time in a long time. I'm finally ready to date again. I really want whoever I end up with to be a Christian man who always puts God first. However, I've also been hearing that I should just seek God because His love is enough. This is absolutely true, but I really feel alone sometimes. Thoughts?
 
The prevailing [Christian] wisdom is that people should live their present lives in accordance with how they feel convicted/how the spirit directs them - i.e. put their focus on their current spiritual relationship, not in a potential carnal one.

And yet, time and again, [Christian] singles profess loneliness in the midst of the journey.

Personally, I don't think you should put your values on the back burner, just reassess them. Be honest with yourself and with God. Stress less, live more.
 
It's normal to feel that wanting of finding love and finding a good christian man. Give that to God because you never want to settle and finding a good christian man can be difficult because you not only want a good christian man but one who fits you well like personality, interests etc... Someone equally yolked. Ask God to set in your path a great guy for you! When God's involved in a relationship it's a beautiful thing. Singleness is beautiful too though this is a time for you to focus on your relationship with Jesus.

You should put God first but don't feel guilty for being a human (we're not meant to be loners lol). A lot of cliche sayings like trust God, put Him first and things are all nice things to say but are just sunday school answers/pc imo....Afterall God looked at man (who was sinless at the time and in perfect fellowship with God) yet even God said "it is not good for man to be alone" so evidently man was created to interact with other humans (in creation's case a woman Eve was created to interact with Adam) so if God showed that humans still needed something along with God (relationships to other humans) then I don't think all these pc answers of trusting God etc...is all completely correct. Yes we need to trust God but we were created to interact with others...otherwise why would God create another human other than adam????

For those who are single and following God I am not bashing you, God gives different strengths to different people but this guilt tripping people into "you should be seeking God alone" is just too much and really lame we're humans for goodness sake we were created to interact with others in a godly way and seek God both can be done it is not a mutually exclusive one or the other....

Its so okay to want things. But the Lords timing is everything♡ he has perfect timing :) trust in that :) delight yourself in Jesus. His will honour you as he already does. :)♡

Oh my gosh, I totally agree with you! And sometimes I feel like it's harder for women because we were initially created to be a companion. Not our only purpose obviously, but the main reason God created Eve.

Cncoffee, I totally feel you girl! I have had three relationships in my life, and sadly never to a good christian guy. I'm so tired of it, I want someone who will put God first, even before me, but the christian guys I know don't seem to know much about dating. And I'm not just saying that because none of them have taken interest in me, I say that as a general observation. Like there are a lot of young adults in their late twenties at my church who are all still single and I'm like "dude, is there really no one you're interested in???" What's even more frustrating is how I get noticed by non christian guys, and if that is what I wanted I could definitely be in a relationship, but I know it would never work out because our values are way different. So I end up being lonely and wondering what I've done wrong.

Basically I don't have any advice for you, sadly, but I just wanted you to know that you are not alone lol.
