I know that this is good for me,
But I just can't let it come to be,
My fingers around this piece I clasp,
Held ever so tightly in my grasp,
As you stand there guarding over me,
Patiently waiting, and asking me,
To give to you the pieces of what broke apart,
So you can fix me again, and heal my heart.

Life was shattered much like the fallen glass,
Halted being at a forever impasse,
Pieces of my heart lay crushed all over the ground,
Fragments of large and small, they bled and drowned,
I knelt in the mass to scrap them up again,
Ignoring the wounds they cut deeper then,
I scooped and piled them all in my lap,
Where I held my life within my trap.

Backed into a darkened tower, therein the corner I did drop,
And held my breath for endless hour, while awaiting the world to stop.
I thought that if the spinning ceased, I could reattach,
But the rotating continued, and nothing would patch,
Devastated with emptiness of what I lie in,
Despair seeped from the pieces, dripping into the skin,
Glass burning into the soul from the nothing,
Screaming out to be made whole, form a something.

Covered over with you every hour,
Protect and shelter, while I cower,
You plead with me to give you just one piece,
To show me how this pain could cease,
Hold my heart and make it complete,
But with you I continue to compete,
To only let them cut me deeper still,
Down to my bones with deathly chill.

I know that this is good for me,
But I just can't let it come to be,
My fingers around this piece I clasp,
Held ever so tightly in my grasp,
You reach and hold the other side,
Knowing all my strength has now died,
I cannot give you the whole, but maybe just a part,
If I can find the will to let go a piece of my heart.
