I will admit I've been away from Christian chat for a while; partly because I'm in a bad place in my life and the other part is because this is an extremely busy time of year for me.
The purpose of this post is to ask for prayer. I am struggling with a particular sin and Satan knows where my weaknesses lie. He is exploiting them. It's not surprising that situations keep popping up in my life and it bringing the same temptation up over and over. I asked for prayer that God will forgive me, take me out of situations that lead me astray, and give me a bold strength through the blood of Jesus to be delivered. I'm praying that God will break these chains and any consequences of my disobedience for me and my family. I'm really needing help these days as old habits are resurfacing. Please pray for me. I want so badly to be in a close walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. I want to be in fellowship with God but I am struggling.
If I don't respond back it's only because I only get one day off a week and it's hard for me to find time to be online.

I pray you know how set free you are in Christ. I just pm'd you some resources to help encourage you, brother.

You say you want so badly to be in a close walk with Jesus Christ. Well, you already are because of Him. He is walking with you, going before you to make a way, and His Spirit resides in you as well. You are His temple. He called you, He chose you. You just need to know it in your heart that you belong to the Savior and that nothing will ever separate you from Him.

Begin talking with the Father all the time, share every thought with Him, listen to Him, He yearns for you more than you yearn for Him. Believe Him when He speaks to your heart and start resting in His love for you, Jess.

I have been down that road and it led me astray . I have certain weaknesses that can be hard to resist . When I find myself starting to look away from God , I just say " Jesus , I need our help " . I say it a lot actually . Temptation is everywhere

Resist the devil and he will flee from you. When you feel yourself being tempted, turn and ask Jesus for help. Do you have dedicated prayer time with the Lord? Are you studying the Word? Do you go to a bible study class? Put on the armor of God and prepare yourself for the spiritual battle we all rage against. It is normal for us all to battle sin. Jesus is strongest in our weakness. Ask for His forgiveness and for His help. We serve an awesome God for whom nothing is impossible. Like Paul, we all do what we do not want to do and don't do what we want to do. Repent of your sins and God is just and merciful and will forgive you -- over and over if that is what it takes. Father God, we pray for the strength to resist temptation and for forgiveness when we give in; we pray for your guidance so that we may resist the Evil One who is only here to steal, destroy, and kill, that we not give into the lies of the Enemy; we pray to be strong in you and your mighty power, that we put on your full armor so that we can stand against the schemes of the Evil One. We know that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. We ask for the full armor of you Father so that when that day of evil comes, we may stand our ground, that we may stand firm with the best of truth, wearing the breastplate of righteousness and our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the goodness of the gospel of peace. Father God, may we take up our Shield of Faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, taking the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. We thank you, Father God, for your Word. We thank you for your love and your faithfulness. In Jesus name, Amen!

Thank you. One problem i have is remembering to turn to Jesus right away. Only afterwards do I sometimes think about "what I could have done". I need to remember these things at the onswt of temptation. Thank you so much for your prayers. Please continue to pray for me.

carrying a very small Bible with you at all times will also be a great comfort,
when you are feeling weak - just take it out and read His precious Word...
