Grace has been distorted and grace has been abused. It was never meant to teach and to go along with some of the things that people believe today. There are false teachings about grace. Some believe and act like grace is a license to sin. Because we now have the grace of God, some will say well, it was doesn't matter how I act or what I do, I'm going to be saved anyway.

Sometimes people speak and act like anything they want to say or anything they want to act. I can talk like that, and maybe that's not the best language, but hey, we're covered by grace. Maybe I shouldn't act that way, maybe I shouldn't have done that to that person, but you know what? We're both covered by the grace of God. Well, we may be a little more worldly, we may get into a few things that we really ought not to get into, but you know that umbrella of grace is going to cover our sin, any way.

Is that really what the scriptures teach? In Romans 6:1, The apostle Paul dealt with this idea when he was writing to the Romans, and he said, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?” The idea that some were thinking is, well, if grace was given to cover sin, more sin, more grace and so we can just go out and sin, and the more we sin, the more grace God's going to dump on us, if we can use that word.

The Word of God says, "Sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but grace." Grace is NEVER a license to sin, and to make such an accusation is to have ignorance of God's grace. Grace doesn't speak to the flesh, it speaks to the born-again spirit. We were crucified with Christ, and our "old man" put off. The sinful nature gone. Our spirit, is born anew, from once being spiritually dead, to now alive.

Religious Christians fear preaching too strongly on grace (unlike Paul did), in fear of being misunderstood. But, if you don't preach it, peoples lives aren't going to be set free. Do you want to know what grace teaches?

Titus 2:11-14

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ


Grace does not empower people to sin, it empowers them to not be dominated by sin. Grace is what will radically change lives, as I heard a person say the Lord spoke to them. Radical grace. Grace isn't attractive to those who seek self-righteousness because with grace they have no merit in themselves. They come up with reasons as to why too much grace is a bad thing, but too much grace is another way of saying, "Too much Jesus.' And let me tell you, Christians should want more of Jesus. Matter of fact, what was it that was admonished to them often?

2 Peter 3:18

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

People need more and more revelation of Jesus and His grace, because in so doing they capture in their mind who they are in Christ! What has God's grace, his love for you done? It has reconciled you to Him and it has transformed you, through the cross. Grace isn't a doctrine, its a person and his name is Jesus Christ.

As is said in Colossians...

Colossians 2:6-7

6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it[a] with thanksgiving.


How did you receive? By grace through faith in Jesus Christ. How do you live?

I do not agree with you when you say grace allows people to sin. Context is important here as we know grace is an unmerited favor and men think that grace will save you. "Just call on the name of the Lord and you will be saved."

It is obedience to the gospel that saves.
