I truly think that's why God/Jesus allowed the the church to end up in such disarray after Rome killed Peter & Paul. If they had read their Bibles instead of hanging on every word from early philosophers, and allowing pagans to incorporate some of their practices into the church, maybe they wouldn't have fallen into the trap they are in.

Lesson: Don't rely on ANY man to teach you when you have God's Word available right in front of you and the Holy Spirit to guide you if you're reading it with an open heart to God/Jesus and acknowledge that His thoughts and ways are better than ours (as if ours matter anyway!) He reigns and calls the shots.

Agree. And you are right in pointing out how Augustin of Hippo was major player in conjuring up bogus dogma.

Returning to earth to claim the throne of David in Jerusalem to rule the new earth for 1000 years.
