Whenever a thread gets started about what goes on in the Bible Discussion Forum, I always like to point out that what would be worse is if we were no longer allowed to make statements that do not conform to the beliefs of the administrators. What I love about this site is that we are free to witness to what the Lord has taught us, even if we don’t get it exactly right every time.

But certainly people could learn to be polite to each other. If I disagree with something you to say, that doesn’t give me the right to call you ignorant. The Apostle Paul might say, “You are wrong,” but he never called anyone an imbecile of a fool, did he?
 
I am very grateful that we can speak our own views and beliefs without being instantly banned, I have been banned from certain Christian forums simply because of a difference in understanding but not so here. However it is because we have this freedom that we are to be all the more respectful in our debates. We are not little children anymore and as such should not respond as one, in any debate it takes a mature and stable minded person to actually debate other wise all you get is senseless arguing which benefits no one.

But the things of God more than anything require a calm stable minded person to discuss and debate, i mean honestly why do we debate these things if not to understand the truth of the matter and to learn and grow together? Or is this stuff simply an excuse to argue and slam our own beliefs on others? I have seen many who are mature in both age and in how long they have been saved acting like arrogant children and have seen young people in both in age and how long they have been saved act much more loving calm and mature than their elders. I am sure i am not the only one who sees this and I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this is not right.

Sometimes I think that the reason MORE people don't get banned, is because there's pretty much only one mod in here, and he's rarely here anyway.. we're pretty much on our own, so instead of moaning about the lack of mods, how we self-moderate ourselves, then there wouldn't be such a need for more mods in here if everyone could moderate their own behavior..
 
I agree with this 100% resurrection which is why I haven't vouched for certain people to get banned
 
For me it's not so much a matter of censorship as a "what kind of a site do we want to be/ look like?" issue.
and that does require many, active mods with so many threads showing up each week / day.

Should a Christian site allow other religions to preach? When does it stop being sharing info and start being preaching?

or Let's say CC was in a country where Marijuana was legal: Would it be wise to promote it on a Christian site just because it wasn't illegal?

at some point, one might end up giving the impression of merely being a secular forum that allows Christians.
(Not saying we are there, but if the rule is "everything is OK in the name of free speech" then that is where we will end up

The only problem I have is with people who insult other people. When it comes to what we believe, I'd hate to see people banned for that, unless they just come out and say they are anti-Christian.

Christians have reasonable differences of opinion. If the time comes that we are required to adopt one group of people's set of beliefs, then I think we are in trouble.
 
I love your post. I love a good debate. I debate even with my closest friends on things. A good debate will either prove me wrong and I change my mind, or proves me right and makes me stronger.
