So I have heard there will be two of these, three of these, one of these. How many resurrections will there be. and how does this effect what time the rapture will be. I'm referring to the resurrection that happens in the end times. Thanks for your help who so ever decides to do this study with me. (:

...Resurrection of the dead...

There are 2 (two) resurrections, John 5v28,29 states: "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life (at Christ's Second Coming, 1Cor 15v23, 50-56), and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (immediately after the Millennium, the Great White Throne judgement, Rev 20v11-15)."

Have a look Here

[SUP]Revelation 20
6 [/SUP]Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

There was a point when Jesus was raised from the dead that a few of the dead around Jerusalem were bought back to life, but that was temporary. The main event is yet to come when Jesus returns, after that the second full resurrection will be the one we do not want to find ourselves in.

All you can do is read the scriptures for yourself prayerfully. try about 3 chapters a day, start at Genesis Ch 1, Psalm 1 ann Matthew 1, over the course of a year you will read the old once and the new twice. I can never stick to just one chapter though, it sometimes gets too exciting and I have to keep going LOL, sometimes it is boring, so I look for the hidden gems such as;

Mathew 1
1 This is the genealogy[SUP][a][/SUP] of Jesus the Messiah[SUP][b][/SUP] the son of David, the son of Abraham:
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Abraham was the father of Isaac,
Isaac the father of Jacob,
Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,

Perez the father of Hezron,

Hezron the father of Ram, etc etc.

I know reading all the begat's is a little boring, but I have underlined the interesting bit here, there are others in this chapter like Boaz and Ruth but we will stick to this one. The story of Tamar is a story of faith;

Genesis 38
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. [SUP]7 [/SUP]But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” [SUP]9 [/SUP]But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. [SUP]10 [/SUP]What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Judah then said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Live as a widow in your father’s household until my son Shelah grows up.” For he thought, “He may die too, just like his brothers.” So Tamar went to live in her father’s household.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]After a long time Judah’s wife, the daughter of Shua, died. When Judah had recovered from his grief, he went up to Timnah, to the men who were shearing his sheep, and his friend Hirah the Adullamite went with him.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]When Tamar was told, “Your father-in-law is on his way to Timnah to shear his sheep,” [SUP]14 [/SUP]she took off her widow’s clothes, covered herself with a veil to disguise herself, and then sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. For she saw that, though Shelah had now grown up, she had not been given to him as his wife.

[SUP]15 [/SUP]When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Not realizing that she was his daughter-in-law, he went over to her by the roadside and said, “Come now, let me sleep with you.”

“And what will you give me to sleep with you?” she asked.

[SUP]17 [/SUP]“I’ll send you a young goat from my flock,” he said.

“Will you give me something as a pledge until you send it?” she asked.

[SUP]18 [/SUP]He said, “What pledge should I give you?”
“Your seal and its cord, and the staff in your hand,” she answered. So he gave them to her and slept with her, and she became pregnant by him. [SUP]19 [/SUP]After she left, she took off her veil and put on her widow’s clothes again.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Meanwhile Judah sent the young goat by his friend the Adullamite in order to get his pledge back from the woman, but he did not find her. [SUP]21 [/SUP]He asked the men who lived there, “Where is the shrine prostitute who was beside the road at Enaim?”

“There hasn’t been any shrine prostitute here,” they said.

[SUP]22 [/SUP]So he went back to Judah and said, “I didn’t find her. Besides, the men who lived there said, ‘There hasn’t been any shrine prostitute here.’”

[SUP]23 [/SUP]Then Judah said, “Let her keep what she has, or we will become a laughingstock. After all, I did send her this young goat, but you didn’t find her.”

[SUP]24 [/SUP]About three months later Judah was told, “Your daughter-in-law Tamar is guilty of prostitution, and as a result she is now pregnant.”

Judah said, “Bring her out and have her burned to death!”

[SUP]25 [/SUP]As she was being brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law. “I am pregnant by the man who owns these,” she said. And she added, “See if you recognize whose seal and cord and staff these are.”

[SUP]26 [/SUP]Judah recognized them and said, “She is more righteous than I, since I wouldn’t give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not sleep with her again.

So by prostituting herself she showed faith for by her actions the line of Judah became secure, not so boring now. The scriptures are full of these little gems but you wont know unless you read it for yourself, prayerfully. Rehab the Harlot (WOW another prostitute), that's a good story as well
God bless and have fun.

Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

There is only two resurrections,one of the saints before the millennial reign of Christ,and one after of the dead after the millennial reign of Christ.

There is not two resurrections of the saints,for the Bible say the saints will not be gathered unto Christ,until the man of sin addresses the world that there is no personal God,to help them,but people can solve their own problems,and achieve peace on earth,and makes war against the saints,so when the resurrection occurs of the saints,the rest of the world took the mark of the beast,and cannot be right with God.

God will only work with Israel,and the fulness of the Gentiles will be come in,which is when salvation is no longer available to them.

God will get His people all at one time to be with Jesus,that is why the Bible says blessed is he that has part in the first resurrection,for the second resurrection has no hold on them,for if they miss the first resurrection,they will go unto the second resurrection,which people that have not heard the word of God,but met the criteria,can dwell with God after the millennial reign of Christ,but people that rejected the truth after hearing it,will be in trouble.

Hello Mapper,

Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Above is the resurrection of the great tribulation saints ONLY. In 1 Thes.4:13-18, when the Lord descends the dead rise first and then the living are changed and both are caught up to meet the Lord in the air. In Rev.20:4-6, we only have a resurrection taking place. Here are the resurrections mentioned that are all apart of the first resurrection:

* Christ the first fruits of those who rise from the dead

* The church at his appearing

* The male child/144,000

* The two witnesses

* The great tribulation saints

The above are all phases or stages of the first resurrection. You can't have the church being resurrected at Rev.20:4-6 for that would put the living church through the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments, which are all the wrath of God.

I know we do bang heads, and I do not want to detract from this thread, but why should not the church be resurrected at Rev 20? There is only two resurrections one for the blessed and one for the cursed, also what of the wedding feast?

Hi bikerchaz,

Regarding your question, there are a number of reasons. Regarding your claim that there are only two resurrections, I have listed five of them above, so why would you claim only two? The day of the Lord, i.e. the time of God's wrath is a specific, unprecedented time when God's wrath will be poured out upon the entire world followed by Christ returning to end the age and establish his millennial kingdom. After Paul gives a detailed accounted of the resurrection and the living being changed and caught up, he then says "comfort one another with these words." Then he describes the wrath that is going to follow and says that, "we are not appointed to suffer wrath." That said, if the church was to be gathered at Rev.20:4-6, it would put the church through the entire wrath of God. Regarding Rev.20:4-6, if you will notice, only a resurrection takes place there with no mention of the living being changed and caught up. Those being resurrected here will be the great tribulation saints. This resurrection is not the same event as 1 Thes.4:13-18 and 1 Cor.15:51-53.

also what of the wedding feast?

"
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
“Hallelujah!

For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”

"The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.

In Rev.19:6-8 the bride, which is another designation for the church, is seen as already being in heaven and the announcement is made that "the wedding of the Lamb has come!" It also shows that the bride/church is receiving her white linen, fine and clean, which she is seen wearing as she follows Christ out of heaven riding on white horses to end the age in Rev.19:14.

I hope that this helps

Hey Bikerchaz,

I am zealous for the truth and accuracy of God's word, which is why I continue to contend for the truth. Satan is very busy distorting the word of God in these last days, which is why we see so much controversy on every Biblical subject. One of the main problems that I see is that people are not understanding the severity of the wrath of God that is coming and that scripture states believer's are not appointed to suffer his wrath and that because Jesus already suffered it for us.

I look forward to talking with you later

Rev 20:4b-6 ...neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

The first resurrection is when Jesus was resurrected. He was the first one to do so. That is why he is called the firstfruits. Those who are saved have a part in this first resurrection. Because Christ was first resurrected they are able to be born again (they become blessed and holy and live and reign with him spiritually). Notice that the 1000 year period ( a figurative term for the full church age) and the rest of the dead (those who are saved after the tribulation starts) are both summed up in the phrase 'This is the first resurrection'. Remember how the souls under the alter were told to wait just a little while until the rest of the saved persons would come in from the tribulation period: "And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled." The second death is the destruction of perishing spiritually as a lost soul, so those who have part in Christ are saved and live with him forever, so they do not perish as a lost soul.

Hello birdie,

Notice that the 1000 year period ( a figurative term for the full church age)

The 1000 years is not a figurative period, but a literal thousand years in which Christ will rule on earth from Jerusalem from the throne of David in fulfillment of Scripture. It will be a time of peace where prey and predator animals and their young will lie down together and a young child will lead them around, the lion will eat straw like the ox, and mankind's age will be restored like it was prior to the flood. For scripture states that during this time "if a man dies at a hundred he will be thought to be a mere child or accursed.

The fact that from Rev.20:1-7, the words "thousand years" is consistent in that it is written six times would demonstrate that it will be a literal thousand years. Scripture also shows the thousand years commencing after Christ returns to the earth to end the age, where the beast and the false prophet are thrown alive into the lake of fire and Satan is thrown into and restricted in the Abyss for the same thousand years that Christ will be ruling. Furthermore, there is nothing in the scripture that would lead the reader to interpret the thousand years as being symbolic. Also, the church age will be over when the Lord appears to gather his church prior to his wrath being poured out, with the thousand years taking place after God's wrath.

Precisely so, Revelation 20 beginning with the imprisonment of Satan and the beginning of the millennium, then John writing of the body of those he sees which would rule, which includes tribulation martyrs. This group of martyred believers could not have existed prior to the tribulation, just as all others who would be of this ruling body had to come before the tribulation, and this none other than the dead in Christ who are already risen and the living believers translated, prior to the tribulation. Revelation 5 places the pre-tribulation believers "out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation" present with Christ, prior to the tribulation seals being opened. You can't possibly place the dead in Christ with the tribulation martyrs, obviously, and, since the living believers take part in the rapture, also, it's a QED: saints who are going to reign with Christ present before the tribulation, and also those coming out of the tribulation. All the stages of the harvest are in at this time in Revelation 20, which comprise the first resurrection, the clear statement of the whole ruling body of saints now formed, "This is the first resurrection."

Revelation 5:8-10 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Revelation 20:1-6 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

What is incredible of the errant exegesis of eschatology is the fact that there are about 1,000 future prophecies in the Bible, and about 500 of those literally fulfilled, already. Somehow, there are people claiming the remaining 500 turned symbolic, and this despite a literal Israel, in the news everyday, as we speak. It's so strange to me there are those who are signed up for what amounts to Roman Catholic eschatology and Replacement Theology, which denies the Bible means what it says, and call themselves Protestants, in 2016. Daniel said knowledge would increase, though apparently not for some, trapped with the likes of Augustine, still in fifth century error, that same Augustine who didn't know eschatology from escarole, this we now have proof of. And who believes God communicates in things we simply assign values to that sound good to us, hit or miss, as if the Bible is Nostradamus? My Bible states God is, rather, not the author of confusion.

So I have heard there will be two of these, three of these, one of these. How many resurrections will there be. and how does this effect what time the rapture will be. There's to be a resurrection on the day of Jesus' second coming. Per John 5:28-29 both, the resurrection of life and the resurrection of damnation happens. (The wicked dead are not going to be destroyed on the day of Christ's coming like many think. Nor does the "resurrection of damnation" wait to the end of the Rev.20 "thousand years" either like the majority think.)

Per Isaiah 25 and 1 Cor.15, all peoples still alive in the flesh on earth on that day will be changed to the "spiritual body" Paul taught there. (1 Cor.15 is the resurrection chapter, it has more detail on the type of body the resurrection is than any other Bible chapter.)

Per Rev.22:14-15, there will be a separation on earth between the wicked and Christ's saints in the holy city on earth. This is what Jesus spoke of with the "outer darkness" idea in the Four Gospel Books. That will be for His "thousand years" reign of Rev.20.
