Have you heard of the idea of "soul prayer"? This is when someone prays contrary to God's will, not in the name of Jesus, but to punish another Christian for a perceived wrong. God will not answer such a prayer, but Satan will take advantage of it and attack the believer.

I have a real life experience of this. Decades ago, I married a single mother who attended a different church. One of the congregation thought that she was his responsibility, so to speak, and was most upset that she left the church. My wife at the time and I had no idea of this. After we were married, I became ill. I had no appetite and I felt unwell all the time. I ate little and lost a lot of weight. I was diagnosed with diverticulitis.

This went on for weeks. One day, I met up with someone from that church. He told me that I was being accused of taking my then wife away from the Lord. This was not true. We were fellowshipping elsewhere. I received a word from the Lord about what was going on.

"So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift." Matthew 5: 23 & 24

We went to see the individual. He defended himself, even though he'd publicly accused me. However, the illness lifted instantly and has never returned.

It is interesting that the responsibility to reconcile is with the innocent party. Very often, the offended one has no basis for the offence.

"An offended brother is harder to win than a fortified city, and disputes are like the bars of a castle." Proverbs 18:19

If the offended party is not willing to reconcile, that is not your problem. God will honour your obedience and any ill effects will lift.

Ask God to show you any issue that you have with another believer. Then see if it possible to resolve it. If they have a legitimate complaint, confess it as sin. The blood of Christ pays for that sin. If you cannot find out who has something against you, plead the blood of Christ over your life. My wife and I do this from time to time. We remind the devil that when he sees the blood of Christ, he must pass over us. The physical blood of a lamb was sufficient to protect Israel from the angel of death. How much more the precious blood of the Lamb of God.

Finally, ask God to remove any curse on any aspect of your life, including finances.

I don't worry about curses. Jesus sad to bless those who curse you. You can spend your life in fear of attacks and curses. I choose to dwell on all the good ways the Lord has blessed me; and not just me, but all those who believe in Him.

What scripture do you have in mind if any about sending a curse back to the sender?

What does this have to do with your money?

While the Bible does seem to imply that curses (or deserved) curses can have power, I cannot find anything about Satan using prayers to God.

Some uses of 'soulish' Seem to rely on the concept of 'soul power' from Watchman Nee's work the latent power of the soul rather than anything in scripture.

I do not see how the scripture you quote indicates that the innocent party is the one with the obligation. I understand it is the person who does something along the lines of calling another 'raca' or 'thou fool' should have to go reconcile with that person for sending against him.

And in a lot of cases in scripture offense refers to calling someone to fall into sin. But of course it depends on the translation.

But in Matthew 18 the brother who is sinned against should confront their brother who sins against him.

I lived in indonesia. My wife was really upset to find a bag on the little gate that went to the side of the house we were living in. She seemed to be freaking out but I asked her why she would be scared. It had black sand in it. She explained that was a form of witchcraft. Set a bothered her that someone would try to do witchcraft on us. She's suspected the neighbors made who she thought might be jealous and trying to gain my interest.

Before I married, housemate thought the maid liked me, and was jealous of the girlfriend that I eventually married, and I found hair in my hash browns That the maid had made. My friend explained that one of the forms of witchcraft was to put one's hair in someone's food. If that was the case it did not work.

Now and expect to hear it I knew from church who led the singing. He had a terrible and painful bout with kidney stones. He and his roommates had a maid and up over the door there was a ventilation openning, he found a plastic bag full of urine. He suspected his maid but he had not had any problems with her. He said he's a friendly person and maybe she thought he was flirting with him and didn't like him for that reason but he couldn't think of any source of conflict with anyone who could have a reason to do a harm.

It does seem interesting that his ailment was kidney stones and the apparent witchcraft amulet had to do with urine. It makes me wonder if there was some send there that opened up the door for if he wasn't diligent enough in prayer or what.

The church planter I met in Bali which is very Hindu spoke of the spiritually dark environment there and some ailment that came upon preacher there so he said they had to be in prayer. On that trip I did step in a hole and twist my ankle just a bit and right by the hole there was one of those little Hindu shrines. To be the God that it wasn't very severe. I dip my foot in the water below the waterfall we're going to visit but since it was the drop extra water wasn't cold.

Thank you for the inspiration .:). I chose that background because it looked like an English tea setting in a lovely yard or garden setting. I tried a few different ones with macaroons and fancy tea cups (my mother had quite a collection of those!), but this one with the melons worked best overall for the pale (but vibrant) pastel colours I wanted and composition etc (the melons remind me of cucumber sandwiches heh). The woman was one I made this afternoon trying out a new generator which was very interesting because it was somehow connected to Discord, which our lovely @seoulsearch mentions occasionally... She started out looking like this-

I did tilt her a bit sorry about that... and then I blended in a different face to which I again blended in a different
set of eyes... and I do hope the font is legible, please let me know if it is not and I will try to fix it for you...

So you accept one scripture but not another.

Watchman Nee was correct about the power of the soul. It's how unbelievers live. Some are naturally strong, others develop their soul powers and some are both strong and developed. Some Christians also develop the soul, always at the expense of the spirit.

Ignorance of this principle leads to deception. It leads to error. Some churches have ceased to preach God's word, substituting "worship" instead. Prancing around on a stage, singing banal and repetitive rock songs is not worship. Neither is hyped up emotion. What's worse is that believers are fooled into thinking that they are pleasing God.

We are in the age that Paul warned about, where people want to be entertained rather than taught. So too many Christians stay as spiritual infants, dependent on others for their Christian life. And too many leaders are content to keep it that way.

You are falsely accusing me of accepting one scripture and not another. I said nothing about most of the Bible. That does not mean that I reject it.

You should read what I said again. The word I received was from God for a specific incident. If the offended individual does not obey God and speak to the one who offended him, then it is appropriate for the person who caused the offence to resolve it with the offended one. The person who falsely accused me did not see fit to talk it over with me. So I had to go to him. It's that simple.

The reason I ask this question is because in the church I came out of, returning the curses back to sender is what the leader practiced, and taught us. The same one I said who cursed me, because she did curse the entire group of people for not giving her donation. In the old testiment the church leader did this to Isreal, because they where always not giving tie money. He told me that it was not himself they did this to, but God. And he cursed them. The church leader I spoke of did the same thing. And when this happened I suffered losses because of my car. However on this topic because of what someone here said, sorry I looked for the post for credit, I had already been suffering problems with my money. It just happened that somethings happened to me.

The church leader would point to scripture saying that we are to return curses. One of those is, 'God will curse those who curse us.' And right now I don't know them, but she pointed to other scripture also.

But an error I know the church leaders was doing, was they would command belzabulb to break things for them. Commanding a demon to do something for them. Which I know is witchcraft, because this is what a witch does. On that, I think they just where making a mistake. Ignorant of the error.

Something I learned about returning curses, is, 'You are trying to save the person, and then they get cursed by you.' But on that one, the church leader would say, 'You are showing them God's power.' This is true, I returned a curse to someone as they did it in my face, and they later came looking for salvation from the curse.

A problem I see with is, returning death spirits to the person. If the person dies. The church leader would did say she returned death spirits and seen people die.

I seen God kill people too. Two of them died out of prophecy I spoke to them.

You are ever so very much welcome! That is interesting about your auntie and I am sorry for your loss. My own daughter lives with her paternal aunt... and their four pets. It was so funny when I walked into the house yesterday, because one of the cats came to meet me and then he just stopped dead in his tracks and stared at me. We are in agreement that none of their animals have really gotten used to their new digs, as they moved into a new house late last year. The humans were in the back yard enjoying the lovey weather and my daughter was doing some "gardening," so I joined them outside and then the cat was trying to break out of the house to join us, too! Haha they are always trying to make an escape. Anyways, I did make some more changes to the panel and I hope you like the new background set-up as much as I do! .:D. I had meant to mention the photographer before, as I have collected quite a few of the images she has made available for others to use as they wish. Her name is Jill Wellington and she is a portrait photographer, but she has many other lovely images as well that she has released to the public domain on Pixabay. That background you see now is actually two images blended, with the lower half being the same one mirrored and then the top half a different image completely... but they are all Jill's..:)

U r very talented and have a great eye for colour . My mother in law is a very down to earth practical person . She likes gardening and sewing . One Christmas several years ago , we bought her a few of those colouring books for grown ups , don't know if u have them in the U.S.A. Well she astounded us all ! She is awesome at colouring , choosing the right colours but not in a predictable way , she uses colour so imaginatively ! She really did astonish us all and your work reminds me a bit of the things she likes to do . I can't imagine what she would b able to do on a computer , but then again her skill seems to lie in colouring in an image that someone else has created , not in creating an image for herself . I think maybe she should have had a career in textiles , curtains , soft furnishings or wallpaper , that kind of thing . Your images would make great posters , very inspirational .

Thank you for your very kind words! Yes, we do have those adult colouring books here, in the USA and Canada also (I am Canadian). Donald wants to make us the 51st state, but I really do not think that is going to happen... at least, I sure hope not! Haha. Anyways, yes, I do work with things other people supply (which I collect), as I am collaging by putting bits and pieces of things together, which I often modify to bring into harmonious balance colour-wise, and in other ways as well... I was artistically oriented as a child and went into photographic printing as my adult profession, and have been doing that, making other people's pictures look great, for almost fifty years now. Actually I have always credited God for allowing me to do that, because it was the only thing I knew I wanted to do, against a very long list of things I did not want to do and would not do LOL. In those days I was not a believer, but I knew enough that what I called the Spirit of the Universe had a hand in all of it... I was involuntarily retired at 65 with the Covid closures, and had just received my cancer diagnosis, so that gave me all the time I needed to go through my treatments and multiple surgeries etc, and then my boss called me back to work close to 2.5 years ago, so now I am 70 and working 3 days a week, six hour days... which helps keep me active, as otherwise I spend too much time in my chair. I have always enjoyed my work, and that is where I learned the remedial photoshop skills I use in the designing of these Scripture panels. I understand you are a cancer survivor also, so kudos to you! My closest sister had a double mastectomy, one year apart. Stage four must have been a bit scary to hear and I am so glad you are still with us, even if that is selfish of me!

What do you believe about on this topic. It has been a debate in the church. Right now I am getting my assets attacked, my money is getting attacked.
A few thoughts, first we are not to fear anything but pray over everything instead, Phil 4:6. When we fear we open the door for attacks, not adhering to God's instructions. In the book 'The Witch That Switched' she said she put a curse on a Christian neighbor's family but nothing happened to them. She was perplexed that the curse didn't work because she thought her 'club' had the most power. She found out that each day they plea the Blood of the Lamb/Jesus over their family. That encouraged her to seek the One who has power over all the works of the enemy. Also, we as Christians are not to be cursing others, not even our enemies but instead 'bless them that despitefully use us', as hard as that is. Here's the verse Romans 12:14 stating, "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them." Hope this helps along with the other great responses🙏🙌
