Hello all, I used Christian Chat years ago but I might as well be a new user since it has been so long. So first of all, greetings online folks! I am a mid 30s married Christian who has been a Christian for about 20 years.

Now, my reason for hopping back on here is I am looking for advice. I wasn't sure what forum to post this in, so direction would be appreciated. In short form, until I know where to appropriately post this, I am looking to start a porn support group at my church to help families and porn addicts overcome this crippling addiction.
However, I am having a harder time than expected finding a good format or blueprint for this type of class. Been researching this for months, but if anyone is already a part of such a support group or has knowledge of where to get info on this topic I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!

Look up Josh McDowell ministries and he has a lot of information and group support on porn addiction and recovery.

Probably Misc forums. Or Singles as it's one if the more active areas.
You could see if XXX Church has any resources or can point you towards some.

Hi Flameborn, nice to see you back. You have a worthy cause and I would suggest taking a look at a thread in the Misc Forum called 'CRA' Christians in Recovery. Maybe you could pick up some tips there. God bless you!

Hey FB! Great to see you come back onboard.
Yes, I heard/read somewhere that porn is the biggest selling commodity/industry in the world now apparently. And too many young people are posting videos etc online in different chat rooms/websites, when they don't realise it will all come back and bite them on the bum. Porn is everywhere we look, on TV (especially in so-called 'innocent adult' movies labelled as soft porn, or with an 'M' rating), on freeway ads, magazines, DVDs, etc. Most stuff is online which makes it worse, because then it is more accessible by people of any age, and it then becomes a secret thing which people take great pains to hide (like binge eating for example). It is a huge problem, especially with all the exploitation that comes with porn in it's many forms. It is also one of the bigget money earners of our time - so sad.
Looking forward to having some interesting discussions on this subject, and more.
Cheers! :)

It is scary. The devil is working overtime and he has most guys falling as results of lust.

We have to overcome. The promise is only for those who overcome. The entertainment on television of today is not suitable for christians. And I guess pornography is problem, but we can say that of any addiction. Whether it is drugs, sport or food. The problem is that we are not living according to the law of life of taking from God and giving to others.

Once we realise nothing but God is the solution and from whom we receive our every need. We won't come to place where we need to be.

If we are dependent on others and not contend where we are in life.

Thanks to all who replied. I have previously been researching things from XXX Church, Josh Mcdowell, Fight the New Drug, Mark Laaser etc. So far I am looking at two programs and trying to determine if these are viable, Celebrate Recovery and L.I.F.E.(but not the board game lol). I will check into the Misc Forums here though and also as recommended I will continue any further communications regarding this in Misc. Thanks again!

Hello Flameborn, looks like you found some information already but if I may suggest fervent prayer and study. Not for the removal of sin but that you may know God, that you may love God with all your heart. Matt. 22:37 Achieve this and you'll see the sin fall away from your life, you will be made new. In other words don't treat the symptoms, treat the the disease. One who loves the Lord with all his heart, soul and mind will not have an issue with porn. I struggled for many years with habitual sin as a "christian" but until I truly gave my life to the Lord I was trapped. No matter how hard I tried and prayed and cried, I would always find myself back in sin.
Focus on God for the sake of loving God and you'll be a brand new man. Hope this help your group.

I agree with you. Many times we only treat the effect the behaviour, what we do wrong. While it is more important to see 'What is the cause' for me falling into sin. The root of the problem need to be resolved.
