I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Sounds very much like you could lose your salvation, doesn't it? Well, let's look at the next verse...

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked

How can this describe a child of God who has the Holy Spirit? Is he really wretched? Is he really miserable? Is he really poor? Is he really blind? Is he really naked? I would rather say it describes false converts, who thought they were saved only because they once prayed a prayer but did never truly repent and believe the Gospel. See Matthew 15:8...

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

The letters were written to be read to whole congregations not to a particular individual. I understand these rebukes to mean that
unless the Church as a whole shapes up Christ will leave them to their fate, which is what sometimes happens now to individual churches or even whole denominations

Well i guess that if you hate God then at lest you believe in God and believe His revealed will is His...

Some Children of God are known to throw temper tantrums around Him sometimes.. They get very angry and shake their fists at Him.. I would speculate that Gods Holy Spirit is engaged in a spiritual battle for the spirit of a person like this..

But people who have the "'I could not care less"" attitude towards God .... Maybe His Holy Spirit is no longer engaged in a fight for them..

actually during prayer, it's healthier to tell God "I failed to love you as much as I should, but help me rest in you as you work to grow me"

instead of saying "God, I hate you"

because life and death is in the power of the tongue so it's best to practice controlling our tongue, which is part of walking with God

That's what we all look like to GOD when we don't keep our garment.

Perhaps; If a person is hot and then cold, he knows that he is not right with the Lord when cold. Whereas a person who is luke warm might just think that he is right with the Lord while not actually being saved...
