Citizens have the right to speak in this country, and that includes speaking against what the current policy is. But citizens also have a responsibility. Obviously if you enlisted and then when war comes run, that is breaking your oath. But if congress votes for a draft and you get drafted that is part of your responsibility. Granted, you can move to another country now. But there will be no place to hide. Everyone will be forced to make a decision one way or the other for the Lord.

Or resisters can choose to go to jail. If there's a draft an anti-war movement like the 60s is likely. There's not enough prisons to hold everyone. Wars stop when people refuse to fight.

That is not true, wasn't even true for Vietnam. Wars stop when one side surrenders, which is what happened in Vietnam.

I lived through Vietnam, I am well aware there were protests and people running to Canada and those who were against the war. But it had nothing to do with the Vietnamese soldiers. The war stopped because the US capitulated.

In case you missed that I'll say it again, The war stopped because the US capitulated.

There was no Cum Bah Ya moment where soldiers from the US and Vietnam both agreed stop fighting. Now did the protests lead to the US capitulating? Sure. Bunch of politicians realized they wouldn't be reelected.

All you are saying is what the kid who gets bullied at school says. I give him my lunch money so he doesn't bother me. Until tomorrow when he wants his lunch money again, etc. Either you stand up for yourself or you are a wimp, it is one or the other.

Right- this is where we get the proverbial stories from vietnam veterans returning to a country that hates them. Granted there were draftees that hated being there; and some did undermine the war effort; but it was civilian discontent that put a stop to a super-unpopular war.

And of course, this is still a thing- If this conflict with Iran turns into anything other than tomahawk target practice, then it could theoretically end like vietnam. I don't think it will though.

Christ said he would be rejected by that current generation, but it doesn't say that those who seek his face would be another generation. He returned to his place in heaven from where he poured out the spirit upon those who were seeking his face.

We just saw 3 or 4 top level cabinet members do 180°s.
I don't know if it's a financial incentive underer the table from some bond villains or blackmail.
It's unfortunate that the best months of any president in my lifetime is starting to look familiar.
