Each person has their own convictions. We can not tell anther person what they should feel or think about anything. If we were all the same then we would be boring. God is the only one who can place conviction in our hearts.
Yes, those movies do have a certain portrayal of witchcraft and other evil things that is deemed unacceptable to some. However, as a person who does not have the temptation to want to live that kind of lifestyle I only see them as they are a form of entertainment. Now someone who does have a past that dealt along those lines would find it hard to watch those kinds of movies because of the temptation to follow that kind of lifestyle. That is why they feel convicted about watching certain movies.
So, just because someone feels convicted about watching those kind of movies, doesn't mean they can try to force their convictions on others.
Sorry for the rant. I am just fed up with everyone trying to tell others what they should think.

I was just going to say something like this.
While we can't say HP is a christian book, if you know the context of the story, it actually has good morals like friendship, loyalty, and love. Love is always mentioned as the most powerful force. JK Rowling considers herself as a christian still struggling with her faith, but at least you can see some christian values ( Except for the whole witchcraft and magic thing, that by the way, I find it very stereotypical).
I don't recommend the book to someone who is struggling with faith and tempted by magic and things like this. But if this is something that doesn't make you struggle with your faith, I don't see how it can affects you. Some people see it and just grab the good message of it. SOME people, not everyone. It's personnal. Paul said something like this in Romans ( of course not about movies, but I think it can apply)
I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 14:14
Some parts of the movie actually reminded me of Jesus (JUST REMINDED ME, IM NOT SAYING THE MOVIE IS CHRISTIAN) . For instance: Harry's mom died for him. Because she shed her blood for him, Voldemort couldn't kill Harry and the spell didn't work with him. Harry is protected by her blood and her sacrifice and lived because of that sacrifice.
