A Flower Of God’s Design, The Rosebud…..
A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day. Feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was asking the older preacher for some advice. The older preacher walked up to a rose bush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing any of the petals The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and ministry. But, because of his great respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try and unfold the rosebud while keeping every petal intact . . It wasn’t long before he realized how impossible this was to do. Noticing the young preacher’s inability to unfold the rosebud without tearing it, the older preacher began to recite the following poem:

image0011.jpg

It is only a tiny rosebud
A flower of God’s design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
Then, in my hands, they die

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
The flower of God’s design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So, I’ll trust in Him for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the Pilgrim’s way.

The pathway that lies before me
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I’ll trust him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose
This poem came to me during a time in my life when I was facing alot of fears... trying to come out into the light Jesus wants me to live in, it helped me to understand, life is risky.. loving others is risky.. but to keep hiding where it seemed to be safe was even riskier.. So I decided to dip my toes in the water.. I did take my time prayerfully though.. slowly came out of my shell, slowly trusting others.. always seeking my Lord's hand, His guidance, His leading.. now i'm a bit braver but wiser too, it's a fine balance for me and i'm always having to work at it with His leading.. Hope you don't mind me chipping in :P
God Bless you always..
amen thanx 4 sharing b blessed allways amen.

GABE: Maybe there is no pot of gold, but maybe the rainbow is enough.

Yes, but what can one do with a rainbow besides admire its beauty from afar.

I think part of the problem is that our hearts may be too afraid to chase after it because we never want to find out that the rainbow was just an illusion. We've come to love having the rainbow so much that it has become a part of us.

That's just it, Gabe. I'm tired of just looking at the rainbow. I want to see where it goes. If there's a pot of gold at the end, great!! If not, I will have learned where the rainbow went and all of the things it touched.

I hate his cigars, but I love how goofy he smiles when he has one in his mouth. I hate his wierd taste in music, but I love that he loves to dance as much as I do. I hate that he will always be the first to volunteer for something, but I also love it at the same time. I hate that we'll be/may be separated for long periods of time, but I love that he's willing to do things a lot of others won't.

I love how protective he is of his family. I love how great he is with kids even though he's never had any. I love the interest he has in my son's life. I love his passion for learning. I love that he can stand with me in a river for hours, just smiling and not saying a word. I love to watch his face while he reads a book and wonder what he's thinking, and I love the face he makes when he catches me doing that. I love the thought he puts into every gift he gives to anyone. I love how angry he gets over political matters. I love his wierd sense of humor. I love that he's addicted to cartoons and John Wayne movies. I love it that I don't have to agree with him about everything and he won't be angry about it. I love that he will just look at me and smile until I shut up when I'm wrong and I know it.

If I still remember all of this and still feel the same way after 3 years of not being together, I need to to at least talk with him about it.

This has an almost movie-like quality to it. It was actually very beautiful to read.
