Nothing. America acts like it's a tough cookie and can talk all it wants. Meanwhile, Russia is just like:

The Insane Re Ukraine
IMHO:
The Ukraine used to be part of the same nation as Russia. Only in recent history was it separated when the Soviet Union broke apart. It is outrageous to suppose that Russia is going to sit by & watch all the surrounding pieces of the Soviet Union join the European Common Market and Nato. For some reason, when the Soviet Union broke up, Nato did not disband, as we were no longer in the Cold War vs the evil Communists of the Soviet Union. For some reason, the Nato countries did not let Russia just be one of the boys at that time. Gorbachev would have liked for Russia to join Nato.
Just as Russia swallowed up part of Georgia, we are IMHO watching it swallow up part of the Ukraine. This is like Hitler bringing in the German areas that were not in Germany before the final straw in Poland.
So I think that Russia having part of the Ukraine is a done deal. And the USA is stupid anyway for having economic sanctions. They will accomplish nothing except make countries hate the USA all the more. The Ukrainians themselves don't have the guts to go to war; they are just fooling around with a little futile opposition.
Meanwhile, this is a fulfillment of Daniel 2's image where Rome in the latter phase is composed of 2 legs broken into pieces. I see Russia as the current power center for the Eastern leg of the Roman empire, though they no longer have an office of Czar (Caesar) & no king of the family Romanov. I can't seen anyone reunifying the Roman Empire until the Sea Beast (Rev 13) comes along.
But neither can I see either the east or the west leg of the Roman empire becoming a unified leg again -- both sides are in pieces.
This Ukraine things seems to me to be a very tiny pimple in world history.
And since the USA is not about to send troops or instigate a nuclear war at this time, the govt would be better advised to stop bad-mouthing and trying insulting sanctions on Russia.
Europe needs energy from Russia. The USA cannot supply Europe with energy because of its environmental/global warming religion, which is delusional in proportion and self-destructive.
