Ruth and Boaz! The perfect match?

Ruth and Boaz, if you were to actualy be there in the historical sense.. would we say they were a perfect match..

Does this story tell us anything about relational love, and marriage.....or have we got it wrong? or has it no relevance to marriage? who proposed to who, who done the wooing?

Anyhow we Know theirs was a 'match made in heaven'', but do we overlook maybe a partner that may just be your match?
 
I really hate the word "match"

Cause it sounds like some kind of memory game I used to play as a kid.

Sometimes its the fire that couples go through that binds them together more than any "match" could. If I shared a crazy epic life changing adventure, such as leaving America and American Values, to find that I had the chance to fall in love in a foreign country. Then allowing God to plant the seed and strike the sparks in a well oiled couple of hearts. I would be lost to this, careless of whether or not we were a good match.

Boaz made Ruth feel incredibly welcome but it was Ruth who made the first Relationship move. =)
 
Ruth didn't put her needs and desires above Naomi's. She was honoring her husband in caring for and loving her mother-in-law. She was putting herself last, even to the point of traveling to a strange land. (Anyone who's up for an adventure is aces in my book) In return, God rewarded her with a husband who was equally dedicated to doing the right thing, an honorable man who cared for his family.

Lessons:
Humility
Obedience
Not all mother-in-laws are bad
Men need to be sure they have clean feet

Actually, Boaz did, by making sure Ruth and Naomi needs were met.
 
All I know is Boaz and Ruth are a favorite topic for sermons.... Lols :)
 
I think it;s our job as individuals, not just man or woman, to do our part in making a relationship happen. Ruth listened to an older wiser woman and that;s how she was able to get the attention of this man. I wouldn't say she did the wooing as she was just blindly following instruction from her mother-in-law. But she most certainly cought his eye. I think that's what most women try to do now a days as well, but in the wrong way of course. Many of us try to use beauty as a way to lure a man in but Naomi advised Ruth to use her character. Today we get all dolled up for each other hoping that that will work and it does for a while, until he becomes uninterested. Now ladies I am not beating up on us because men have responsibility in it too, because thats what they expect. So we give them what they expect. But I say that God has called both of us to higher standards. We bth need to be showing each other who we are, not more of what we could look like.

Be happy, smile, have a kind word, be polite to others at all times, these are the things that a potential mate may see in you that will draw them in. If they are that God fearing, God loving man/woman that you are looking for.
 
Ruth and Boaz?? Pfffft. The only perfect match that ever existed was Kermit and Miss Piggy!

I just happened to be thinking about the story of Ruth and Boaz last week so I read it. I was struck by the fact that Ruth was a Moabite--not even of the house of Israel. Boaz not only accepted her as "part of the family" without hesitation, but also made sure she had food, protection and special privileges on his land for her and her mother. He was a man of great integrity. The fact that all of this was unsolicited and above-and-beyond what might be expected of an average business man in that day and age is significant to me. God did command that the poor foreigners be allowed to glean the crops (whatever was leftover after the harvest) but I'm wondering how many Israelite businessmen actually made sure poor foreign women were "welcomed"?

Also, Ruth was a woman of character too. As a poor, destitute widow in a foreign country, she might have resorted to prostitution to "pay the bills" yet she didn't compromise herself. She told Naomi, "Your God will be my God." She was even willing to leave behind her own country and people to follow Naomi by faith just because of some quality Naomi possessed (I'm assuming Ruth was attracted to the one true God). Ruth had no future if she followed Naomi, logically speaking, (they were both poverty-striken, alone, destitute) so I'm guessing her entire future was given over to faith--trusting in the God she'd come to believe in.)

The most wonderful part of this story is how God used a woman who was not even an Israelite to bring forth the descendants who preceded his own Son, Jesus. God brought her into his provision in every way, because of her faith.

There was a man in the church i was going to, he was some kind of prophet. One night while i was at church he just walked up to me and started praying and said, Read the book of Ruth, You are a Ruth.

Now i read the book of ruth with all this her and boaz stuff.

To me it looked like she threw her self at him, and he wouldn't of made any kind of move if she hadn't of pestered him basically.

I dont believe it was a match made in heaven, i think it was her mother in law telling her what to do and she just did it.

However you must admire that type of dedication. ''Dont urge me to leave you or to turn back from you, where you go i will go, where you stay i will stay, your people will be my people, and your god my god, Where you die i will die and there i will be buried. May the lord deal with me ever so severely if anything but death separates us.
