I write this out of concern from my heart. Right off the bat, I am exposing false doctrine, not attacking catholics. Since catholicism has such a large following, that is the reason why I mostly focus on them.
The Catholic catechism defines "sacraments":
"A thing subject to the senses, which, in virtue of the divine institution, possesses the power of signifying holiness and righteousness and of imparting these qualities to the receiver."
Another definition of "sacraments":
"Sacraments. Outward signs or sacred actions...through which grace is channeled...When the Sacraments are administered validly and the recipient is properly disposed, the Sacraments attain their ends infallibly, that is, grace is automatically communicated to the recipient. Thus, the Sacraments perpetuate Christ's Redemptive Action." Dictionary of the Liturgy, p.561
The 7 sacraments are: baptism, confirmation, Eucharist, penance, anointing of the sick, holy orders, matrimony.
I'm not going to tackle each of the seven sacraments directly, but the very fact that the catholic church says these sacraments impart "holiness and righteousness" and "perpetuate Christ's redemptive action" to the believer I will tackle. Nowhere in the Word of God does it teach of sacraments. The catholic church teaches these sacraments to be a part of saving grace but in context with Scripture, these are nothing more than man made traditions foreign to the Bible. The Bible was of NO PRIVATE interpretation(2 Peter 1:20-21). Here's what the Word of God says concerning Scripture:
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" 2 Timothy 3:16
"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20
Nowhere in the Word is the interpretation of the Word given solely to the catholic church authority. 2 Timothy 2:15 does not even hint that it is speaking to a specific instituted church, but for us to STUDY it to rightly divide the Word. The Holy Spirit helps us understand the Word: "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26.....Also read 1 Corinthians 2:10-15.
Now I will go back to this definition on sacraments:
"Sacraments. Outward signs or sacred actions...through which grace is channeled...When the Sacraments are administered validly and the recipient is properly disposed, the Sacraments attain their ends infallibly, that is, grace is automatically communicated to the recipient. Thus, the Sacraments perpetuate Christ's Redemptive Action." Dictionary of the Liturgy, p.561
The definition of "perpetuate" is- To prolong the existence of something, the act of continuing indefinitely, etc..."perpetuate Christ's Redemptive Action" is false theology and thus shows the fallacy of sacraments. And here is why:
"Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation." Hebrews 9:25-28
"And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." Hebrews 10:11-14
"Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God." Romans 6:9-10
salvation is not found in the sacraments. Because first, sacraments are not even found in the Word to begin with(the catholic church btw, perverts the Lord's supper and water baptism-ordinances of obedience, they do NOT channel saving grace), and second of all, it is all the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that saves us, not of ourselves!
“And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But IF IT BE OF WORKS, THEN IT IS NO MORE GRACE: otherwise work is no more work.” Romans 11:6
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Nowhere does the Word say grace is channeled through these acts of sacraments. This myth of sacraments are perpetuated by leaders of the catholic church who privately made this stuff up, then butchered the Word of God(adding and subtracting from the Word: Revelation 22:18-19) in an attempt to justify it to make it appealing to catholics. We need Christians to take a stand and expose the catholic religion because it perverts salvation into lies. Anyone who is trusting sacraments to save them need to start trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. I have some threads labeled "only one saving gospel", "Biblical repentance" which makes salvation completely clear. In love, I am trying to warn catholics and asking my brethren to help me warn these people because they are deceived.
