I have been friends with Erik for several months now. I soon discovered that he had made the decision to join a group that has a history of demonic ties and dates back to Egyptian paganism. I'd rather not specify which group it is. Once I found out, I told him it was not a good idea. I advised against it, and I explained to him what it really is. I soon understood that he did not believe that this group was inherently evil--he believes that everything is just a conspiracy, when clearly, it is not. There is quite a bit of documentation and thousands of years of history on this group, as well as witness accounts and testimonies. I have done quite a bit of research on it way before I even met him. He is a great guy. He is funny, charismatic, and unusually quick-witted. From our conversations, I have gotten the gist that he is not against Jesus, and that the Bible is his main preference for a holy book, but he does not follow it devoutly. He seems...lost and confused. He couldn't even give me a real reason why he wanted to join this group, and when I confronted him on that, he couldn't even answer me. It seems that he is seeking self-validation and a separate identity from his family, which I do understand, but he is clearly going about it in the wrong way. I have never pushed my beliefs on him; I told him that he has the freedom to make his own choices, but that this one was not exactly wise. I mean, I didn't exactly hide the fact that I am a Christian, but I certainly didn't flaunt it either. I'm not really sure what else he expected I would be. The subject just kind of came up on its own as our conversations progressed.

Anyway, thank you very much for taking the time to read this and consider this situation. It means so much to me. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. It is obviously no accident that him and I met. Please pray for God to open his heart and open his mind to what I am trying to tell him. Please pray that he sees that this group is not what he needs--that it is not what God wants for him. I also ask that you pray for him to see that I truly care about him as a friend, and that he does not have to be afraid to talk to me as a friend. Please ask God to give him a searching and curious spirit that will lead him to the truth and away from counterfeits, and to send other Christians in his path to influence his life. Thank you so much.
