If your children refuse to believe in God because you ''lied'' about Santa, then you need to have some lessons on how to raise children and lessons on how to teach them Gods word. The End.

I can see how people would feel like its okay to tell their kids that 'harmless' idea about santa clause for fun... but it isn't harmless. The kids become dissapointed when they find out and I'm sure they wonder why their parent would tell them a myth. That's how I would feel. My parents specifically my mom told me from day 1 there was no santa clause because she didn't want to lie to us. I am glad she did and i'll do the same with my kids. I don't like false hope. She did say there was a saint nick a longgg time ago and explain a little of him. Why does there have to be a santa? Why can't you just say Jesus gave them those presents? Jesus gives us all that we have. And he's real! On easter its about Jesus as well yet people want to believe in the easter bunny. It's jesus people! What's wrong with that? I am sure the kids will be mrore greatful that you told them of someone real, that they are having things provided to them because of him.

I like your statement about Jesus giving us all we have. These are great opportunities for us to give the glory to God. If somebody thanks us for a gift or anything we can tell them "Don't thank me, thank God because He is who provides for me". Telling your children this can also raise them in a way that they will give glory to God, children imitate everything we do.

When kids play and pretend, they are aware that while they are role playing they are still in reality, they know their toy sword wont cut anybody, they know that they really aren't a pirate and that the cardboard box isn't a ship floating in the sea. They are not believing a lie just because they are pretending, it is totally different.

Telling kids about St. Nicolas and all that stuff is one thing, but convincing them that Santa is really delivering their presents is a lie. Is your idea of having a little fun telling a lie? Santa never played any part in fun that I can remember as a child anyway, there is harm in telling lies, but telling the truth never harmed anybody.

My sister & I grew up being told Santa was real. When my children were born, my ex & I agreed to not tell them about Santa. Needless to say I personally was disappointed when I learned he wasn't real. But the children know who is real & that is Jesus who provides their every need. That is how we should celebrate Christmas.
 
I never really believed in Santa as a child. I tried milking it for what it was worth though that and the Easter bunny thing and the tooth fairy. Now that I think about it, I was quite the extortionist. Lol all well!
