Saudi Arabia declares all atheists are terrorists in new law to crack down on political dissidents - Middle East - World - The Independent

Ok, we don't get along on many viewpoints... I appreciate that. But what's your opinion on atheists being branded as terrorists?

And technically, would ALL people who don't worship that particular god be terrorists too?

In the world of extremism, cos let's face it, only extremists would buy into this notion. Is an atheist more of a danger to your faith than someone who worships a different, therefore Rival god?

I think in Saudi Arabia (and in oriental countries, in general) every group that tries to replace the traditional system of values with the occidental one is considered ennemy or terrorist.

For religious extremists, christians, for example, may be as dangerous as atheists -not because they worship a rival God:D- but because christians come with other teachings (more liberal) than the islam.

Look on the bright side. If you're branded a terrorist you can just turn around and say, "I'm not atheist. I'm an adamant believer in Muhammad and the satanic verses." The application of this law is hardly practical. It only keeps their society from becoming secularized. And maybe that's what the ruling body is going for.
 
[FONT=&quot] It's absurd, theoretically rather atheist should be those with greater morality and ethics, because their source of reason is in them, not outta (not God, not Allah, not Jesus, not Islam).
So if they are helping others, it theoretically should be genuine and from heart (if it is not for selfish reasons or self-realization, or image). there are many religion people who do good things just because they are afraid of God, or its just habit, or because they know, they supposed to do good things, or they simply collect good deeds (because they are hoping for heavenly reward) so their morality is actually less than atheists, who don't care about heavenly rewards or what is written, they actually care about people in need.[/FONT]
Of course they are also many selfish atheists. But... many of those who I know, are really kind, genuine and characterful people, willing to help in any time, and their kindness often outdo christian insensitive legalism in many ways.
So for me, it is an absurd idea, that atheists with their tendency to unite people in world peace, could be terrorists. And if we look at history, most of terrorist are hardcore religion people (muslims, but christians too)
what I wrote above, does not change the fact, that atheist are lost, unsaved and without Jesus they will be damned for eternity together with or without their good deeds. Just for clarification ... But I don't think, that they have some tendency... or any tendency to terrorism.

Atheists already brand themselves as ATHEISTS...

from a Christian perspective, that carries a lot of condemnation in itself;
I wouldn't add any more to it.

This is just another way in which the world is changing. Just like Christians are labeled a hate group now in the United States, and if they go as far as they want to we will be labeled as terrorists to.
 
oh, well, crossnote, when we look at things your way ..spiritual way .. then maybe.. although I would rather atheism call spiritual harakiri then terrorism.
 
I look at this as Saudis trying to pass off the "terrorist" label onto someone else, because their teachings have produced so many terrorists. Extremist Teachings Remain in Saudi Textbooks Despite Kingdom's Claims of Reform | Fox News

There have been some famous Atheist terrorists, no doubt. (Stalin, Hitler, Paul Potts.) But this just reeks of trying to distract from the bigger issue, to me.

According to Wikipedia, any conversion out of Islam can be punishable by death, so I'd say they hold the same general view towards all "infidels".
