salvation is a gift? scripture?

thks
Romans 5:18
Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

The more you speak. the more you show you do not understand what Grace is, Not tryign to be rude. trying to get you to wake up. and see what you are saying

it was perfected 20 - 30 years after he was saved in gen 15?

come on now.. lets think about this.
True tests of your faith that the Lord leads you through are difficult and you have no option but to trust Jesus.

Abraham had in the past been tested and Abraham's faith (trust) in God was growing.

The ultimate test of faith is giving up what you love the most to be able to fully trust.

God tested Abraham at the end of his life so that his faith would be "made complete" (perfected) for all to see.

Not sure what you are thinking?

salvation is a gift.

how do you recieve a gift with works?

You earned the wage of sin (death)

You can not earn the gift of life
cannot earn justification

justification is not eternal salvation

God's requirement: bear fruit

mt 21:41-43

41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

Matthew 3:10
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Matthew 7:19
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Lk 3:9
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Luke 8:15
But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Jn 15:1-6

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Romans 6:22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

Jn 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

So your saying abraham was not saved until he offered his son. and if he never did that, the righteousness he recieved in Gen 15 would be null and void?

cannot earn justification

justification is not eternal salvation
Justification is a legal term, it means to be found righteousn, or innocent

You have earned a wage od death based on your sin.

When yuo are justified. it means you are found innocent of that debt, and through that found righteous (although it is not your righteousness it is Gods)

children of God bears fruit. Not to be saved. Not to stay saved Not to keep from losing salvation. But because he is saved.

Are you in some way saying anyone would recieve grace by not accepting it?
I am simply saying that according to election, God does everything and man does nothing.

Mankind does not accept nor receive, he simply is.

God does the receiving and the accepting. Mankind is to debased to do either.

Since God does your believing, if you do not believe this then you are not among the chosen.

You just think you are one of the chosen.

Election is an issue of choice.
Election is the choice of God not the choice of Man.

If you are going to follow the ideology of election at least understand what it is.

Children of God do not bear fruit of their own. Because of election they are chosen to be the vessel of the fruit. God does the fruit bearing not the chosen or the non-chosen.

Just God.

If you cannot accept this then it is a sign you are not among the chosen.

can an unrepentant practicing homosexual go winging to heaven when they die cos they have faith?

thks
Any sinner who remains unrepentant cannot go to heaven. You say, "cos they have faith," but faith in the Lord Jesus Christ leads to repentance. How can somebody believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to save them from their sins, and still carry on not repenting? Repentance is turning from sin and turning to Christ.

then why do we need to do it!

1 Peter 4:1
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in theflesh hath ceased from sin;

those who commit sin are at enmity with God and shall not have salvation!

eph 5:1-10

1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

But Christians still need to strive against sin. James writes to Christians about enduring temptation:

(Jas 1:12 NKJV) Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Peter and James both say Christians must resist the devil:

(1Pe 5:8-9 NKJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

(Jas 4:7 NKJV) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Paul writes on the Christian armour, the purpose of which is to enable the believer to stand against the wiles of the devil:

(Eph 6:10-18 NKJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of Go praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

Paul was saved when the Lord Jesus Christ spoke to him on his way to Damascus, where he was going to round up any Christians he could find to have them punished. After Jesus spoke to hm, Paul addressed Him as "Lord" and obeyed Hm. What an amazing change God brought about in his life, from " breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord," to being a disciple of the Lord himself!

It is not what you stated above.

You hit the nail on the head here brother

God changed him, Paul was not the same. Not could he go on and continue to live in sin, because he was born of God.

Acts 9 does not say Saul/Paul was saved on the road to Damascus. Jesus appeared to him and then told him, "it shall be told thee what thou must do" (Acts 9:6). If his salvation had already been complete, there would have been nothing further he "must do."

The account continues by showing that Saul/Paul spent three days blind, without eating or drinking, and before Ananias arrived the Lord said, he was praying (Acts 9:9-11). Ananias then came so Saul/Paul would receive his sight, be filled with the Holy Ghost, and arise and be baptized (Acts 9:17-18).

Years later, in Paul's own testimony before the Jews, he states what Ananias told him: "Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22:16).

Taken together, Acts 9 and Acts 22 present Saul's encounter on the Damascus road as the beginning of his conversion, with the completion being after he actually received the Holy Ghost and had his sins washed away via water baptism in the name of Jesus as Ananias instructed.

I disagree. The amazing changing from raging against those who believed in Jesus, to calling that same Jesus "Lord", and asking Hm what he should do, shows that Paul now believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. Yes he was later baptised. Did the water in which he was baptised actually wash away his sins? As Jamieson, Fausset and Brown write on that verse: "This way of speaking arises from baptism being the visible seal of remission." Besides, we have John telling us that it is the blood of Jesus Christ that washes away our sins:

(1Jn 1:7 NKJV) But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Suffering for the Lord's sake was what Paul must do. Acts 9:15 - But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

Jamison, Fausset, and Brown Commentary makes not of the importance of the Greek in Ananias' statement. When Ananias tells Paul to "arise, be baptized, wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord," the tense of the last command is literally "having called" (aorist middle participle). "Calling on [epikalesamenos] --- 'having (that is, after having) called on,' referring the confession of Christ which preceded baptism." [Jamison, Fausset, and Brown Commentary, vol. 3 pg. 160].

In Acts 22:16, the cleansing happens as he calls on Christ, not by the water itself. The water is symbolic; the appeal to Christ’s name is the saving act. Romans 10:13 - For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The language in Acts 22:16 is similar to the statement of Christ when He took the bread and said, "This is my body." (Matthew 26:26) The bread was only the emblem of His body. Baptism is the emblem of the washing away of sins by the blood of Christ. Every time a believer is immersed, he washes away his sins in the same sense Paul did: not literally, but figuratively, pointing to the blood of Christ by which sins are actually washed away. (Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14; 1 John 1:7; Revelation 1:5)

Paul had already believed in Christ when Ananias came to pray for him to receive his sight (Acts 9:17). It also should be noted that Paul at the time when Ananias prayed for him to receive his sight, he was filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:17) --this was BEFORE he was water baptized. (Acts 9:18) Verse 17 connects his being filled with the Spirit with the receiving of his sight. We know that he received his sight prior to his baptism. It's interesting that when Paul recounted this event again later in Acts (Acts 26:12-18), he did not mention Ananias or what Ananias said to him at all. Verse 18 again would confirm the idea that Paul received Christ as Savior on the road to Damascus since here Christ is telling Paul he will be a messenger for Him concerning forgiveness of sins for Gentiles as they have faith in Him. It would seem unlikely that Christ would commission Paul if Paul had not yet believed in Him and was still lost in his sins.

The remission of sins has three applications: 1. Literally, by the blood of Christ - Matthew 26:28 2. Experientially, by faith in Christ - Acts 26:18 3. Figuratively, by water baptism - Acts 22:16.
