Never took it but i'm very interested. Sorry, my mistake, just noticed your age and thought i'd ask.
Did you pass? A lot has changed in 8 years as well.

Of course it looks like intelligent design to you, you seek objectively for science to "prove" creationism. I ask questions when I see bones, I don't say yup god did it. I ask why do whales have fingerbones?

false money making scam. you can't group everyone you disagree with as a "they" because those folks obviously didn't believe the carbon dating methods as flawed.

however carbon dating is not the only method to date a fossil, many use the strata layers and infer the age based upon preconceived notion of those layers being that age.

Carbon dating is only good for a short amount of time. Carbon-14's halflife is only 5000ish years, so it all decays away pretty quickly We mostly use...potassium-argon dating? there's a ton of dating methods. Heck, you could use any known decay chain to date things if you knew knew the abundances at that time. But the theory behind them is pretty sound, its just radioactive decay. The equations are fairly simple to derive too; we talked about it a bit in my nuclear physics class.

You assume she seeks to prove creationism. That's only an assumption. An assumption made by a person that doesn't believe in a creator, and therefore, sees things as if they came about by mere random chance. Seems like it would be about a zillion times harder to think life on earth came about by mere random chance than as a result of intelligent design. But if you want to believe something that much, I guess you will not matter the odds against it.

yeah but if you get buried in a landslide does that mean you are as old as those rocks you get encased in?
 
A common misunderstanding is that the fossils themselves are dated, when its actually the rock layer/ strata that the fossils are found in that are carbon dated. if they are older than 50, 000 years then they date the igneous rock layers above and below it. typically using uranium radioactive isotope decay. however once that reaches the lead stage its useless as well.

however that doesn't prove the age of the fossil. just the age of the rock the organism was fossilized in.

You beat me to it. (Never mind the fact that fossil bones,have had almost all of the bone replaced with rock and all they are dating is the rock,just have no real idea how old that critter really was) :rolleyes:
 
There is no point in this at all. If you are hoping to convince someone of evolution then you have the wrong set of people. The word of God tells us about creation and also that he "turns wise men back and makes their knowledge foolishness"
 
To my Christian brothers and sisters. Build each other up. Engaging in debate with those that do not have your best interest at heart can be dangerous. Trust God. Study His Word. I will address one point that may be bothering you, and that the ungodly is trying to confuse you on. This business of the age of the Earth. Did God create Adam as a newborn infant? If we saw a newly created Adam what age would we think he was? 35? 50? Who knows. Well if God created Adam as a full grown man of indeterminate age wouldn't it follow that the rest of creation was also created with a mature, indeterminate age? A tree would be created full grown. A mountain with a built in age and so on.. Same goes for dating by light. We have no idea if the light from a distant galaxy was instantly created on the Earth, also, what scientist was there ages ago to measure the speed of light? Was it infinitely faster? we have been told that it's speed is constant. I have heard of work being done to prove that it is actually slowing down.

I agree. That's why I choose not to debate with atheists. To them evolution is clearly their religion The ones who come here to teach us about evolution are true religious zealots trying to proselytize. We have had one atheist who opened up multiple accounts under multiple names, multiple genders and multiple countries. He even pretended to be a hurting christian woman. Does that sound normal? It is bizarre fanaticism. A person like that you could show all kinds of proof but his mind is made up and will not budge.

We have atheists come to the chat room and ask for help. They even fain being a troubled Christian who needs help understanding the bible vs. evolution. That type of behavior is bizarre to me. That type of behavior is nothing but raw religious fanaticism.

Seriously, why feed trolls? Why waste your time? Only God can change them.

i tend to give people the benefit of doubt and believe that they are who they say they are.

she claims to be a 28 female Christian.

i don't know why she feels that she's qualified to talk about evolution, abiogenesis or other science topics when most of her sources are youtube videos and one website.

I wonder if she's ever taken a science class after high school and how she did in her science classes in high school.

i'm sticking around to see why it bugs her so much.

Plus it annoys me when people misrepresent science.

Do you really think she's an atheist troll just pretending to be Christian?

You said you haven't even taken physics. You call Wikipedia a peer reviewed cite? Do you realize that Wikipedia can't be used as a reference in college academia? It's not recognized by the academic world as competent!

HollyLoree You really don't understand. Yes Wikipedia is a peer reviewed site and so is Marvel Comic books and the Sears catalogue. Furthermore, you don't need a physics class to understand evolution. All you need is a decoder ring from fruity pebbles.

and you have probably made false assumption about my beliefs and position concerning evolution.

it happens when people group people in a "us" versus "them" false dicotomy.
